Favorite Gun related purchase of 2008 AND Gun Related New Year Resolutions

Hmmm, I was pretty fired up about several this year, including the XCR and the Savage 10 ML.
Resolution? Buy fewer guns and spend more time reloading for, and shooting them!

I think I like the security six 4" in blue I picked up early in the year.
I think that I will reevaluate the place firearms have in my life and try to steer clear of it being a consumer item purchased merely to satisfy some sort of strange unfulfilled hunter gather instinct. I know that firearms and old trucks are some of the awesomest consumer items out there but I think that it is definitely time to reevaluate. With strange economic times ahead many things could happen. Maybe real world goods such as firearms will hold value better than paper money or bank accounts and I should buy many more. Either way I will break myself down as a consumer and rebuild something else, I hope.
I feel as though I should also be more active on the subject of second amendment rights. The thing that bothers me the most is states and localities with their own oppressive gun laws.

My new years gun resolution is to be more particular about what I buy, no more impulse buying. Until the economy gets better any gun purchases I make this year will be well thought out and deeply considered beforehand. This year its all about quality not quantity.

I can't decide, i got my first AR, a .22lr upper for it, and my first pistol all this year.....And i am considering getting reloading equipment really soon.

Embarrassed to admit I don't reload, BUT I should resolve to spend nothing on guns this year until I am capable of rolling my own for all my guns.
okay, resolved. Well, except for a scope I have to order later in January since the rifle has no iron sights, I better glass it first.
okay, okay, resolved, after aforementioned sights, I will spend nothin in 2009 on gun related purchases except for getting set to reload my ammunition.

Got two Saiga 7.62 rifles with the dimples for $279 each and converted them.

2008 was the first year I bought A gun!
I have been in the Army in Germany and in the Barracks before that so no guns 'til now. So I guess my favorite purchase was the XD.45. Can't miss with it and it can't misfire.
Resolution: Buy an FNP9 and run my Taurus pt111 over with a large tracked vehicle.

You kidding right? Mosins are $80 to $100 here at Big 5 all day. I picked up a M44 for $100 with all the fixins just in November.

First would be finishing my custom 1911 .45 (Caspian frame, Colt slide, NM barrel, Fusion internals)
Second is picking up a really nice, original S&W Model 40 Cenntenial (thanks marcelblay!) - always wanted one
New Year: a nice .22 rifle (suitable for silencer...)

Ive bought a Savage 22, Remington Pump 22, T/C Encore Slug Gun, Colt Trooper, Para CCW, Lyman Great Plains Rifle, but my favorite is the Western Arms Long Range SxS Double Barrel 20 gauge.

How you liking that XD(m)? It looks very intriguing. Does it have 3 mags? Not sure what it means for the 2 free mags because it didn't look like it had a mag in the well in the box.

Ah... got it, it's 2 included mags PLUS 2 more free mags. That is a nice deal!
I like the 19 round capacity and I read a glowing review about how the gun is almost like magic the way it fits your hands. The match barrel gives great accuracy out to 50 yards and the interchangeable backstraps just fine tune it that much further.
I'm going on Friday to the gunstore to check it out and see what kind of deals they got going for them. They do appear to be cheaper than a comparable Glock too.

My resolution for 2009 will be to continue living the life I love and current lifestyle. I have a guy who wants me to do fly one of his crop planes this spring, but that will interfer with fishing. I could use the money to fund a trip out west later in the year. Life is good.

My top gun buy for 2008 was probably the Remington 547. I just really like the rifle.
Resolutions: Make my purchases pretty carefully. I want to add to the Colt pile this year. Last year was a rifle year. I may break down and buy an Anschutz sporter however. ... the new Lightning replica has me itching too. You see, it never stops. It is a disease I tell ya!
