I'm on the fence & I need to be talked down

Maybe it's from not being able to shoot for the last 3 months but I've looking to add to the collection. I think I need a G21sf. I have a few 45's already, this one would kinda be my beater gun and companion to my G19 -- plus, I saw the new rendition from Glock and didn't take to the new grip texture or the bu-fugly serrations on the slide.
So, in this financially strapped economy where I haven't really looked at buying anything until money became more bountiful -- what should I do?

by beater I mean something that will work when called upon and i don't care if i drop it, scratch it or generally bang it around.
