Hey yall. I just got my Uberti 1858 Remington a a few weeks ago and I am already lusting after an Uberti 1851 Navy. I have a Pietta '51 that was my first bp handgun, but love the fit and finish of the Ubertis. My dilema is that I can not decide whether I want the squareback or the oval style Navy. The squareback just gives it that Walker/Dragoon esque look. Any suggestions on which is your favorite?

When I was looking at the Navy revolvers, I came upon this "pair" of improved Navies and they were my ideal!

I got these in the early 70s and have never considered getting the earlier model.

With the 36's on the belt frame, there is no noticable recoil so the guard is not a bother. If you are considereing the "pocket" frame or any of the 44 calibers, my preference is round for shooting and square for looks.

My favorite is the square back '51 2nd gen Colt; no ........ it's the round trigger guard Uberti London model; wait.........it's the nickel plated grip frame short barreled Navy Arms Frontiersman, yeah that's the ticket.........no, wait just a second now, it's really the 1861 Navies.... or, the replica CH Rigdon Augusta models, or was it the Leech and Rigdon?????? I just can't decide which I like the best. Maybe you should just buy one (or two) of each. That's what I've done

Seriously though, my all time favorite is the 2nd model 1851 Navy with the square back trigger guard. The 2nd Gen C1121 model with high polish, bright royal blue and silver plated BS/TG is the closest to perfect I can think of.

Add some American Holly grips & WOW! Doesn't hurt to have a custom gun rig too.

Fingers, I do envy you!!!! I had a 2nd Generation, 'C' series, '51 Navy and it was the most beautiful firearm I ever owned and what a great shooter it was.

Wear them in good health!!!! :)

I love my C series 1851 and it's little brother 1862 Navy. I just recently picked up an 1861 to shoot a bunch with them.:)

One of each... sort of like contemplating buying fluted or non-fluted 1860's.

There's no one choice... so buy a pair!

Actually I have 2 1851s, 2 1860s, 3 1851 44s, 1 1862 Pocket Police, 2 ROAs, the 1862 Pocket Navy, the 1861, a couple single shot pistols (1 a flinter), 3 50 cal rifles and a double barrel 12 gauge. I almost forgot..... The Duckfoot!:what:

He knows I will comment on the leather. Everyone that shoots with US knows if we come across Fingers in a wreck and everything is burning, SAVE THE HOLSTERS, THEN THE AMERICAN HOLLY GRIPS AND HOPE THE EMTS GET THERE IN TIME TO DRAG FINGERS OUT OF THE PILE.

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, THAT RIG IS PROBABLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL I HAVE EVER SEEN. MAKES ME SLOBER EVERYTIME I SEE IT.

Love the pointability and balance of the C-Series '51 Navy with squareback triggerguard. Cannot bring myself to shoot it when the Pietta G&G while a little heavier points and balances just as well!
