Okay.... I have wanted one of these for the longest. And now, it is mine. I went shooting today with it, and discovered that it is quite a rifle. Especially for the money (it costed me $650 before taxes). I purchased a couple of accessories. (Magpul front handguards, and a frontal bipod/handgrip combo. Also a sling, and 8 mags and mag pouch.)

My testing of this rifle was admitedly informal. It was a walked off 150 paces, and the target was a yellow Yield sign (don't worry folks, someone I know works for the county, and they get old stuff). Because I have just purchased this rifle, it did not have any optics past a Magpul backup site.

So, though I do not have pics (because I forgot my phone), I can tell you, it put all the rounds within the target. I was putting rounds into 1/4 of the sign. My shooting buddy was doing the same. Both of us were shooting off hand standing. I can tell you that the rifle seemed to be capable of much better accuracy than the 4"-5" groups I was getting through irons. And that was out of the box. We were using Winchester white box.

That was how we started. We then went prone. At this point we ran out of the Winchester, but went to using Herter steel case. I wanted to use polymer sealed steel case, and say if it would work well. It did. My shooting buddy is ex-Army, and I had binoculars.... He went to work and got 3" groups with Herter 55 grain bullets.

Overall I am very satisfied. No problems with firing, feeding, or ejecting.

Most of the reviews I've read were born out to be true.

IMNSHO the M&P Sport is the best deal going right now in factory ARs.

Mine shoots three shot groups close to MOA with 55 Grain FMJ and slightly under MOA with 69 Grain Sierra Matchkings from the bench at 100 yards.

Just my .02,

Which barrel do you have?

What kind of 5 shot groups do you get?

I have the later 1/9 twist standard rifling nitrided barrel.

Five shot groups around 1.25-1.5 MOA at 100, with open sights. Not too shabby. It also has the best trigger of the four ARs I own.

I do want to actually put up a good target, with 1" squares, and a 100 yard walk off. And then test it from a shooting bench. I owned an AR, Olympic Arms one years ago, and it took a whole lot of work to get the sites set up, and get it shooting on target.

The guy I went shooting with is just a plain out better shot than I. And, prone he was getting his shots to go about 3" across for every 5 rounds downrange. I had mine open up to about 5" across. We also were shooting from a position that was out in the sun, and we were shooting into a small clearing in the woods which had a canopy of trees with the backstop behind it being an old dried up creek bed, so visually not easy to see.

After a bit, just to tear the target up, and have fun, we did start shooting double and triple taps. It still was well on the target for all that at that range.

I do wonder what kind of optics options would be a good choice for it.

For informal shooting of that sort I installed a Bushnell TRS25 red dot, a decent micro sight for a hundred bucks, I also changed the Magpul to a Matech that I found in the parts drawer. Do not go totally cheap on the sight as the $40 ebay stuff is worth what you pay and will quickly prove it. The Aimpoint T1 is my favorite but with a dozen and a half rifles it is cost prohibitive (about $ 500 a pop) to buy a bunch. Also Leupold makes some great AR optics that are not very heavy and everything you hang on your sport is more weight. A Bushnell 1 x4 AR scope is about twice the weight of a Leupold...e bay scopes and mounts are often well over a pound and a half.

Love mine

Probably have about 1000 rounds through it already in a months time..Just flawless. When I asked here about it (prior to buying) I am so glad the guys steered me to it...

I added a scope (sighting in tomorrow) but bone stock, iron sights, it is spot on. For a first time AR-15 buyer, it is the go-to gun.
