Am I biting off more than I can chew?
I acquired (most of) a M1938 Turkish 8mm Mauser for free, everything together except the receiver, which I am sure someone slapped in a synthetic stock and .308 barrel to make a budget rifle.
So I do my online digging, the M1938 is a Frankenstein of...
I was confused when I saw the stamp on the receiver of one of my Battery's marksman's M14 EBR, it is in fact Winchester... With a stock on it that probably costs as much if not more than a brand new M1A, with the same function (it isn't select-fire).
Exact rifle mentioned is pictured...
...a M240B with all the optics to last day & night.
Ladies & Gentleman, I introduce to you, the all new Colt M4 Carbine SKA variant (Super Kick-A**):
Aimpoint Comp M2 Red-dot, M145 3.5x Gunners Optic, AN/PVS-14 Thermal Weapon Sight. and a Surefire tac-light on the other side.
The things I...
Command Sergeant Major is an E-9 in the enlisted paygrade, which is as high as it goes.
The only step after that is Command Sergeant Major of the Army. They usually are in Command of a Batallion, Brigade, Division, Region of Control, Theatre of War, or the entire Army.
I had the honor of...
Top two photos are from Kandahar Air Field as we staged prior to the push to our FOBs, the following pics were from a FOB I wont name, but its South east of KAF.
Its funny, our other platoon actually towed the howitzers with an MRAP... :P
Thanks for the support guys!
The howitzers get used quite a bit... We shoot at least once a week for pre-planned targets, We havent had a TIC since august.
I got more videos to upload that go along with some of those other photos.
As for dust, its horrible. MRAP's get stuck way too easily...
Its a perk of being enlisted. lol.
But really, they have this 12.7mm machine gun up in the towers... Chinese definately, has a "54" on the top of the reciever with some chinese letters on it.
None of the parts' serial numbers match, and the barrel has cooling rings, and there is a circular...
Hello THR! I've been a memeber for ages, but havent logged on in months... Now, we have internet in our RLB's down here on the Pakistan border at RC South, Afghanistan. Guess the FOB if you must lol.
For the past few months, my Battery has been aggravating fellow sleeping soldiers with some...
I dont think the military would let any firearms drop into a surplus market... MAYBE M9's after the bluing is rubbed off and the firing pin is britle as a toothpick.
As for M14s, still in use, my Battery uses 3 of them over here in Afghanistan. They are the EBR models made by Springfield and do...
...ranges, and thats just regulation uniform consisting of an IBA, Plates, ACH, Knee & Elbow Pads, Eye protection, M4 (or whatever), and yada yada yada.
To be honest, its more of a pain in the a**. The various places you will tend to sweat is gonna slightly affect your shooting after 25 minutes :P
What if the CQB situation goes beyond closed quarters... effectively and consistantly hitting a target at 50-75 yards (if the target gets that far) could use a dissipator upper.
Not to mention the things look mean... With the xtra handguard length you could mount an Anti-ICBM battery on side. :p
As far as I know...
I'm dumbfounded on the M110 "SASS" but, I'm aware of the SR-25 and M-25 / M-21.
I believe the M40A1 is still in use by the USMC.
M14, A choice of few... I too have seen these in photos and a correspondant for Military.Com in Iraq wrote an article about his...
