They are crazy fast. And not much can stop them once they get moving. Swung through her like I was shooting teal with a tad less lead. It was like those guys over in Europe hunting them in drives. But I’m NOWHERE NEAR as good a shot as they are. And I’ll never pretend I am. I got lucky.
It’s been a few years. But the first big hog was about 75(?) yards up hill. The second was about 50 yards at a dead sprint. Sounded like I’d hit both of them with a baseball bat. How I heard that I’ll never know.
You can certainly bruise your shoulder with 45-70. Especially in a single shot like a Ruger No.1. When you get a 444, take your brass and trim it to LeverEvolution length. You can now load 300gr Sierra’s, crimp on the cannelure, and it doesn’t affect powder capacity for any powder but especially...
Get one. It’s an awesome round. And if you reload, I’ve got a pretty cool trick I figured out that’s super simple for shooting heavier bullets like 300gr Sierra FP’s with a cannelure (my go to bullet in 444).
I’ll have you know that, for Christmas, I put my youngest daughters toy shopping cart together without any instruction manual. And it mostly works. Had to use my own gorilla glue and zip ties though. These toy companies are getting really cheap.
Whatever you decide, I’d wait till March. Good/great sales. That’s how I’ve bought all my hunting clothes. I have probably $3.5k in hunting clothes and I guarantee I have less than $1k invested.
I do need to find some early season bibs and a jacket as I gave them, some wool socks, and winter...
I have a reason for every cartridge I love. However, the one I really love that doesn’t make much sense is the 444. It won’t do what my 45-70’s will do. But not a lot of people have them. Another would be the 7mm Mauser. I just like the damn thing.
300-500 yards? That’s a decent poke. Either rifle can handle it. But you lost me at elk. I know it can be done. I know it’s been done. And 6.5 boys are gonna flame me to no end. But I don’t like the 6.5 for elk. “But the BC, and SD, and penetration, and and and”. I know. It’s still a really...
Anything that is touted as the latest and greatest. I’m not even 40. But until there’s some kind of revolution in the ammo industry, it really seems like they’re just putting a different lipstick on the same old pig.
edited because autocorrect and I are old adversaries.
I hope the JM’s fall on their face. Because I will be purchasing all I can afford if they do. I don’t care what Ruger makes. They aren’t going to be original JM’s.
I think “crappy” might be an overstatement depending on how you define it. “Less refined” is probably more appropriate. A lot less refined. Generally speaking, they are very reliable and their accuracy really isn’t bad. But again, it’s all in how you define “crappy”.
I think if you do find something reliably sub-MOA, and non AR, it’s going to cost you at LEAST twice what the AR would. So it’s kind of like “I can, but why”? Still doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to see if it’s out there.
I think the OP’s video is actually a prime example of how a bullet knocks someone off their feet. Clearly for those who watched the video even moderately close, it didn’t. But the OP thought it did. So, perception is reality.
He was a hero. Unfortunately today for LE, everyone is also a potential suspect, especially when responding to an officer down. Wanting to help is great. Helping is great. But the good guys have to KNOW that you’re a good guy. And that can be next to, if not, impossible because of the rapidly...
