    My first squib

My dad got me a S&W 624 back in 1986. I was 14 and I reloaded every week to shot plates. By 16 I could have gone into comp. I never had a mis-fire, or any other problem. But, to make a long story short, last week I got that muffed bang. The only thing that saved me from blowing up my gun is...

    500 sw

I think i'll go out and buy a can 4227 and experment with the 2400 later. There's data for the the 350gr bullet. Maybe if I reduce that charge by 1/3 with the 500 gr. Any ideas, or comments?

    500 sw

Thanks for the info. What powder would you recommend for Hornady 500gr FP/XTP? I've had my 500 sw for two year and never fired it. Maybe, i'm a little scared of it, because from the reloading data i've read, the damn thing is a rifle carterage in a pistol...lol Your comments are welcome. Don't...

Thinks for the really cool pic. Biged… Got to send that one to all my rowdy friends…lol. I was trying to avoid changing propellants, because I have a lot of 2400. So far, that seems to be the only solution. Thanks for the replies…

lg. magnum rifle primer or lg. rifle primer

For me and my 300 Win mag , I have found two extremely accelerate loads. My first load I use H4831SC with 215M primers 168 SMK. The second and a little bit milder is a IMR 4895 with standard CCI BR-2 155SMK. My rule of thumb is it’s a slow burning powder use mag primers.

    Hog stopper

Any size wild hog is dangerous. Even a 40 pound piglet can grab your ankle and break it like twig. I would suggest carrying the judge as a back up only. An open sited 30-30, Ruger 44 mag simi-auto carbine or even an 870, or Mossberg 500 pump with buckshot would be better…

I like Varget and 168 gr Sierra match kings. For 45 acp I like Autocomp, or Unique and 230 gr LRN.

Like I said, EB1 I wasn’t trying to be a jerk. Just making a point. Sorry if I offended you. But thanks for the sarcasm anyway… I needed a good laugh.

    300 gr in a 44 special?

Well, good thing he won't blow up a good 44 spc gun since driveway clearly stated he is using a 44 mag gun. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but how about reading the question before answering...

    300 gr in a 44 special?

I experimented with 300 gr. Speer and Hornady a couple of years ago. They always shot higher and not as tight as 240 gr. At 25 yards. If my memory it is correct, I loaded 19.0 gr. 2400 for 44 mag and 15.0 gr. 2400 44 spc. Maybe, your gun will like them better than mine…

    Replacement for Unique

Autocomp... Very close burn rate to Unique. Meters better, cleaner and I found it has a quicker recovery time, even without a compensator.

Trail Boss Powder 44 mag loads

I’ve been experimenting with TB for my 44 spc loads for the past couple months. So far, I’ve been really impressed with it’s accuracy,as well. I also, think accuracy and bullet placement is for more important than power or even bullet construction. After all a deer will be just as dead with 22...
