    Uberti No 3 Russian

Since this is a black powder, not just muzzle loader forum I thought I'd throw this out there. I've recently acquired a No 3 Russian. I was shooting my S&W No 3 way too much. Anyhow, the Uberti is quite accurate however, I can only shoot about 15-20 rounds before my trigger finger gets...

    repair and refinish help

I had to make a couple of repairs on the stock of my Pedersoli Kentucky pistol. The repairs turned out just fine, can't see them. Problem is I can't get the stain to take on the repaired and sanded surface. It looks like the stain won't penetrate the surface of the wood. Any thoughts?

    Tribute Holster

Some time back I built a rig for a customer down in Texas. Much to my surprise, along with the payment was a copy of "Packing Iron". While looking through the book I decided it might be fun to build a holster inspired by and as a kind of tribute to the California holster makers of the 1870s...

What do you do in South Dakota in the winter

Some of you know that I make holsters for a variety of black powder revolvers. In between orders, and with too much time on my hands (snow and cold) I got to digging through my scrap leather bin. I had enough scrap to piece together a new home for my favorite Remingtons. The cross draw...

Any thoughts on Colt 2nd Gen.?

I recently acquired a pair of 2nd Generation Colt Armies. (Calvary Commemoratives). My question to those of you who have 2nd. Gen. Colts, are they good shooters? If they tend to shoot better than say Uberti, great, I'll shoot them. If not, I guess I'll sell them and pick up a pair of...

    LePage front sight

I'm finally getting some good groups from my LePage, however, groups are way high (about 10" high at 25 yds). Rather than cut the rear sight, I'd like to replace the front with a high front blade. Anybody know of a source for a 1/4" dovetail front sight? Didn't see anything at Dixie or Numerich.

    BP revolver sights

I have a couple of BPRs that shoot groups that rival my best bullseye guns. My question to you and me, is why are none of the revolvers regulated to shoot to point of aim? With my Pietta the problem is obvious. The barrel lacks a couple of degrees of being vertical. As a result, the weapon...

    BP in Missouri

We have been thinking about moving to central or south central Missouri. I've noticed several of you guys are from Mo. Any thoughts on best areas to live, shooting facilities, clubs, etc. Here in SD a 5 min ATV ride and I'm in Natl. Forrest and can shoot all I want. Can you shoot in Mark Twain...

    Pietta 1858 Question

My Pietta Remington (new) has an interesting quirk. With the hammer at half cock, the cylinder and loading ram don't line up. Seems to me that the hand must be a bit too long, and is rotating the cylinder just a bit too far. Have any of you guys experienced the same condition and if so did...

    Range report

The no name 5" Italian Colt replica that I found in a coffee can, basically a pile of rust, went to the range today. 12 rounds, 15 yards, 9 shots in one ragged hole. I suspect that 20 degree weather and a broken leg may have contributed to the three shots that were not in the group. No...

    Belgium made Colt replica?

Has anyone got any information about Belgium made replicas? I found one (Colt new army) marked 1960 ( that's not a typo, 1960) New Army made in Belgium. No makers name. One proof mark looks very similar to the colt logo. Appears to be very very well made. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Back to black

My first bp was a brass frame navy in the early to mid sixties, followed by a Zouave, Kentucky kit gun. In the following years I leaned toward TCs, now having five including an Encore. The other day, while rummaging around in the gun room, I came across a coffee can full of rusty parts. Flash...
