Best Way to Organize the CMP Sale of Surplus M16s and M14s?

Selling rifles is not the CMP's mission, and it never has been. It is one way in which the CMP raises money to meet it's legislated missions: promoting marksmanship; practice and safety; and competition. The purpose of the CMP's endowment that rifle and other sales fund is to keep these...

Where to buy Colt AR-15 backup bolt

It's a very good price. The folks at SAW are great to deal with, too.

Where to buy Colt AR-15 backup bolt

I keep mostly Colt branded spare parts for my AR's, but like Bravo Company's bolts and bolt parts, as well. http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=BCM_BOLT I have not shot my BCM 20" enough to comment on durability, but function is good and reports from high...

    spare parts for AR15

I bought a few of these for my Colts: http://www.specializedarmament.com/products/COLT_HIGH_WEAR_PARTS_KIT_SEMI_AUTO_0_155-834-279.html I've purchased a lot of stuff from SAW. Always great service. Spending a few extra dollars for in stock Colt parts is worth it to me. Went to BCM for...

Ruger Alaskan 44 mag and Buffalo Bore

I have shot a fair amount of the BB 305 gr LBT-LFN out of my Alaskan. It is pretty manageable, but an attention getter, and requires a very firm hold in order to get back on target in a reasonable time frame. For my purposes, and based on my experience with the other BB load and some pretty hot...

Help me find a 20" AR upper?

Grant at GR Tactical has BCM's in stock: http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=UPR-BCM As a current owner of a BMC rifle in this config, and having cycled through a good many other AR brands, this is the best of what's been suggested, IMO

    Colt rumor?

Not that he needs any help from me, but if you don't know who Denis Prisbrey is, you should spend a few minutes figuring it. Calling him a random guy on the internet and questioning his credentials only serves to make you look even more uninformed. There is a long history of confusing roll...

    Colt rumor?

Thanks, Denis. Post 34 here speaks to this perception that there are 2 separate manufacturing processes or quality levels: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=89807&page=2

Should I buy a M1 Garand from CMP?

I have one of the CMP Special Grades to which you refer. The extra dollars relative to the Service Grade ($625) get you new wood, a new barrel and a refinish. The Service Grade Special ($950) has collector grade metal and a new stock. Personally, I think the CMP Special Grade is a pretty...

    M1 Garand Self Defense Rifle?

Hmm, I'm not familiar with this one. Federal makes a 150 gr FMJ Garand load (and a few other 150 gr .30-06 loads), but the V-max is a Hornady bullet, and only comes in 110 gr in .30 cal. Hornady loads a 168 gr A-max round for the Garand. A bit pricey, but it's good stuff.

Marlin 38/.357 mag lever action MN

They had a handful of the same at the Dundee MI store a few weeks ago. Post-Cerberus manufactured with Remington proofs. Looked and cycled a little rough. Having already been burned on like-manufactured a 1894CSS, I passed. I have several older Marlins, including an 1894C in .357/38, all of fine...

    AR-15 platform in 9mm, input

I have a Colt 6450. Lots of fun, and quite accurate. Eats ammo from 115 to 147 gr with impunity. I use Metalform mags. I have some C Product mags that function ok, but others have reported problems and Colt no longer includes them with the 6450; they went back with Metalform as their OEM.

Newbie looking for first AR-15.. M&P15 vs. Colt 6920

Clyde will allow you to swap out the Matech for a Colt carry handle on the 6720 if you wish; that's what I did.

Newbie looking for first AR-15.. M&P15 vs. Colt 6920

I bought a Colt 6720 from Clyde Armory just today, and am having it shipped to my local FFL; literally a 10 minute transaction. Others are sometimes cheaper but they usually have good stock.

Newbie looking for first AR-15.. M&P15 vs. Colt 6920

in stock items are always "great guns/great buys" from the dealer's perspective. They're in business to sell guns, and they have more incentives to move existing stock than to add more. As an unabashed capitalist, I've no issue with that, but it doesn't erase differences among brands. As...

10mm auto as a mountain gun?

Gold Dot personal protection bullets are made differently (esp. a thinner jacket) than Gold Dot hunting bullets, and the 10mm/.400 Gold Dot hollow points are not hunting bullets. Those begin with the .357 Mag Gold Dot soft point, and include a variety of Gold Dot soft and hollow points in larger...

    10mm Ammunition Recomendations

I'm shooting everything mentioned in my first post, incl. Double Tap. I do think the newer Glocks are somewhat better supported. Anecdotally, it seems like people shooting hot-rodded, light-for-cartridge bullets seem to have the most case problems in new models, but that's just my observation...

    10mm Ammunition Recomendations

I have 2 G-20's, one a 2004 manuf. and one a 2005. Never had any kind of smiley w/anything I've shot. Faint hint of a bulge, but nothing more.
