How Many Rounds Before Barrel Wear?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it the throat and leade that wear out and not the barrel per se?

Why on earth do MSR type guns not come like this?

To digress, we forget why most firearms are threaded. Don't remember the bill no, but there was a bill in line to be brought to the Senate floor, to legalize suppressors without the restrictions that were and are in place. Manufacturers were gearing up for this to be an OTC accessory. Then Sandy...

The primer shortage had me shaking my head and laughing a bit

I am thankful that I am not on E. No big stash, but enough to hold me until the winter breaks. Saw a Craigslist ad. where he is selling Federal LRP Mag primers for $250 per 1K! He is also selling an 8 lb jug of Varget for $750! That's right $750. Hard times bring out the worst in some people.

    Aero Precision leaving Tacoma

It's not easy to lose 75% or more of your workforce to move to another state. This is about business.

    To NY Hunters

I apologize, forgetting that the rule does not apply to the whole state. Never too old to admit when I am wrong.

    To NY Hunters

I have resisted making this post, but.... Every one does what their conscience advises them to do, and the taking of game under questionable circumstances is one. I take exception with the posting and pictures of NY hunters who take spikes and four pointers. NY law is that a buck MUST have at...

Did your grade school, junior high/middle school and/or high school have a gun range?

Just got back from visiting daughter in Ga and noticed the post. Yes the armory was in NYC. On West 14th ST between 6th and 7th Aves. I went to HS on East 15th near 2nd Ave. Those who had guns (unfortunately not I), would take the bus across town to the armory. And then subway home! Imagine...

Did your grade school, junior high/middle school and/or high school have a gun range?

Went to HS from 65 to 68 in NYC. And we had a rifle team. We shot in the National Guard armory. Times have changed indeed!

    Carcano 6.5mm question

Also, the 6.5 Carcano has a groove diameter of .267, which is no longer made by anyone that I am aware of. .264 bullets will not seal the bore and the accuracy will be iffy.

55 grain nosler ballistic tip in a 14” twist?

As Rkittine stated they will stabilize in a 1 in 14 twist. I too have an older Rem 700 in 223 and they work fine. Also heavier bullets will not stabilize in this twist as he also stated. V.

Who Loves the Ruger .44 magnum Carbine?

Never owned one. Been around a few. Have a friend who has the lever version. After reading a recent article (IIRC Rifle/Handloader), it seems the accuracy issue is related to the rate of twist used. For whatever reason Ruger and Co used a twist rate more suited to pistols. To be accurate it...

    300+yards

A continuing problem for those who want to get proficient. I can only suggest that you look for where there are competitions and contact the host club. Because of liability issues most land owners won't give permission but all they can say is no and you won't be any worse off. Here in Orange...
