Leading; I just deal with it

Ditto here. I no longer shoot uncoated lead.

Trying to help a THR member get into handloading

I went back to college to get my BA and teaching credential at age 41. I was the oldest student in all my classes, and (he said with complete modesty) one of, if not the, smartest in most of them. Shoving kids into college at 18 or 19 is rarely a good move; with age comes maturity (we hope) and...

    Red dot for an AK?

The mount I have uses the standard rails on the left side of the frame and allows whatever optic I choose to sit right over the dust cover. As noted earlier, I do not use the stock iron sights, so if I move to a red dot, it would just replace the 4X scope I have on it now. I have a cheap Simmons...

    Red dot for an AK?

Apparently, the only red dot carried by Ultimak is now discontinued. If the iron sights are not a must option, is there any reason why I can't add a red dot to my current, side-mounted rail?

    Red dot for an AK?

My converted Saiga .223 (yes, I know, I turned a "sporter" into an EBR;)) currently sports an inexpensive 4x scope that I use at 50 yds., and lately (couldn't have anything to do with age, I'm sure) it doesn't seem to to give me as visible a target, using an 8" Shoot N See, as I would like. I am...

    Still no primers

Speaking of going price for primers today, I am a guitar player; the strings I normally use were not to be found (even through the manufacturer) for over a year and a half, and the only sets I did find were on Amazon at 5x the usual retail. Got a notice yesterday that they were in stock from a...

    .204 Ruger for target?

I have yet to own a Remington (I know), so this model may end up in the collection. Not a hunter, but I loves me some accurate rifle. I believe I have what I need; thanks to all.

    .204 Ruger for target?

Thanks for the recommendations. I should have noted that until recently I've been relying on my Howa .223 varmint rifle for target work at the range. It performs excellently, and I have no complaints with it. A little variety never hurts, and I wouldn't mind another caliber to handload. I don't...

    .204 Ruger for target?

So I shot a Savage .204 Ruger the other day and really liked it. I'm selling off a .243 Winchester that was an impulse I now realize I should have resisted and will likely replace with this caliber. I know CZ and Savage make 'em, but any recommendation for a 100 yd. target model would be...

DIY Lee Turret lighting upgrade. What a difference!

Ordered and looking forward to trying it out. Thanks!

    Do you like 223/556 ?

Not a hunter, so for paper punching it's an ideal round. Reloading is relatively inexpensive a it lends itself to both semiauto and bolt target rifles nicely.

New long gun and nowhere to go.

My biggest concern is that when our range does finally reopen, it'll be a zoo. We have one public range to serve an entire county, and all those shooters are chompin' at the bit to blast away. Patience is a virtue.....

New long gun and nowhere to go.

Yeah, I was going to make a cheap trigger gauge from a water jug, if only to see if the factory setting of 3.5 lbs is just that; may bring it down to 3 for that first range day. I can make up some dummy rounds and use silicone for a primer. Anything to pass the days....

New long gun and nowhere to go.

My nephew has a friend who lets his kids come over to plink with rimfires, but the neighbors get unhappy (and you really don't want to pi$$ them off ). A centerfire with any kind of report would likely be most unwelcome. This might just be a waiting game.

New long gun and nowhere to go.

My Winchester XPR .243 Win just got out of jail, and my local range is still closed. I have ammo made up, new glass on the way, ready to see what she'll do at 200 yds. Normally, I don't walk more than 100 yds, but for this rifle I made an exception. Waiting and waiting...sigh.

    Hornady load data-223 55Grain Bullet?

I use 24gr. of H335 for that bullet in my Saiga .223 and have no issues. Primers look good, accuracy is good (for an AK). Have fun.

    Cheap Press = Stuck Case?

I can't read every reply, so I'll just throw in my $.02. I have used my Lee Challenger to resize several rifle calibers, and have never had a stuck case. Why? Because I use Imperial sizing wax according to directions. It's not the press, or even the dies. Lubrication is all when full resizing...

Opinions on the Lee factory crimp dies.

I love 'em. Say what you will about Lee gear, that die is just excellent.

    How to clean Reloading dies

I just use Hoppes with either a cotton swab or a coffee stirrer wrapped in a paper towel. I dislike disassembling my dies once I have them set.
