Many people do this just fine without a gun. I think some pepper spray would probably assuage your fears well enough.
(I want to try bike touring some day and considered this as well. Basically decided it was too much trouble trying to figure out how to secure a weapon on a bicycle.)
It seems like one outlet because everyone buys up all the ammo they can pay retail for. You see ammo on Gunbroker because it's at a price that people won't pay, so it's still there.
Good to see somebody finally admit to having a 20 year supply of components yet still buy out every shelf they see. I fully expect to find see an episode of that Hoarders show someday where they find a guy with floor to ceiling primers, powder, and cast bullets. I suppose a guy like that would...
I'll be the umpteenth person to say they are probably fine, but go ahead and shoot them in a 357 just to really cover your butt. As mentioned above, I've also overloaded Trail Boss in 30-30 to no ill effect.
This is not true... This would be possible if the cases used were full length. However, Hornady uses somewhat short .357 brass so the .357 should still chamber in any revolver. I can vouch that I have shot it out of my GP100 without any issues.
It should have been enough... As I said before, they claim they never received anything. Sucks to hear other people never got theirs either. Guess I should count my blessings that we aren't hurting for that $50.
So I had this on my mind again today and finally called up the rebate company to ask about my and my wife's rebates. They checked their records quick and said they had never received our information  And of course, as per their instructions I cut out all the UPCs and stuck those in the...
My dad bought one of these recently. He didn't get the wood stocked Ruskie lookalike, but got the one with the synthetic stock and the forward grip.
My 2 cents:
Felt pretty accurate. It's plenty hefty for a .22, but if you aren't a little kid I think the weight is actually good for...
Did you buy it to keep it or did you buy it to turn a buck at somepoint? (If you are trolling auctions I'm guessing it could go either way). If you are going to keep it and want it to look nice, re-blue it. If you are just going to sell it, do it ASAP and make your buck and let the next guy...
Popper, what about the results were lousy? I've got a bunch of those 170gn bullets to load for my 336. I'd been loading them with Trail Boss to give some plinky-plink rounds, but I want to try them faster but don't know how fast I can go or if it is even worth it.
With my GP100, I have the old-style rubber grips and then the new-style Hogue wood grips with the finger grooves. I really don't find a recoil difference between then. I feel like the wood grips fill out my hands a little better, and I don't really find them any harsher when shooting magnum...
I have been thinking of trying this combo so I have to ask - that 37.0 grain load is 1.5 grains above Hodgdon's maximum in .30-30, and they already not that load is compressed. Have you had any issues with that load?
