My wife's 17 does the same thing. We've only fired UMC 115 FMJ's through it so far but it flings brass right on top of our heads consistently with that load.
I already had an old 1100 trap gun lying around not earning its keep (like it ever did :)) so I put a 21" slug barrel on it. It reliably feeds 1 1/8 oz trap loads on up.
I can keep it runnin' reliably. All those years of shooting doubles with it taught me how to keep an 1100 chuggin' along.
Occasionally I'll shoot with my brother at one of our informal shoots where we invent games and scenarios. He's a 1911 guy. I'm a Sig guy. We'll swap guns occasionally just for grins.
Inevitably, when I'm pushing myself for speed, the 1911 will go off just a tad prematurely as my muscle...
