Ruger American Ranch gen the 1 or gen 2?

I went with the Gen. 1 in 5.56mm. I turned it into my yote blaster.

    Rear bag suggestions?

Hehehe, I just stick with an old boot sock filled with rice. Works great and if I ever get lost out in the field, I got a meal carried right there with me.

    New Ruger Mini-14 Tactical

I dunno, the A-team never seemed to hit anything with them either! 🤪 But seriously though, cool gun that scratches my inner childhood but not sure if the price tag is THAT cool

    Concealed Carry Vests?

Or, do they say, “****, that guy’s probably carrying so I’m going to wait until he leaves so I don’t get capped.” Ever see a military base reduce their blatant display of force available when the threat-con goes up? I haven’t. Instead, the HUMVEE with an M240B pointing towards the gate is...

    The Combat .22 Semi-Auto

The logic never ceases to amaze me. Mention .25 ACP for self defense and the comments trend toward being too small for defensive uses. Mention .22LR for self defense and the comments trend towards how it’s not a bad option, lot of rounds fired quickly, wouldn’t want to be shot by one (or an BB...

    Alright , I’m okay with Inline muzzleloaders…

That‘s the penance you have to pay for a blasphemous inline muzzle loader rather than a traditional side hammer. :neener:

    Best AR finish for fall

Not “exactly” an AR, it’s actually an original Rhodesian FAL parts kit build I did years ago, nor is it “necessarily“ a fall pattern but it works. Best part of doing a Rhodesian paint job is you don’t have to be good at painting a camo pattern. Actually, it’s far more realistic if you aren’t...

Girsan MC 14T .380 Tilt Barrel Pistol

Do they take Beretta 84 mags? I’ve heard Girsan says they don’t but I’ve also heard that they do. Have you tried it yet?

    Tisas Tank Commander .45 ACP

I just picked up another Tisas 1911 this evening. This time I had ordered a Military Armament Corporation JSOC 1911. I got it home, cleaned and lubed it up then stepped out the door to run a mag through to check for function. I still have to sight it in (probably this weekend) but it was on...

    Tisas Tank Commander .45 ACP

Yeah, hrfunk did a 2-part review on the Tisas tank commander. While overall a good review, I couldn’t help notice he was really hung up on the pistol not being “historically accurate” and referring to it as “historical fantasy.” I’m thinking, “dude, I’m pretty sure the Colt Commander was never...

    Tisas Tank Commander .45 ACP

Yup, I ordered a Tisas Raider and a day later, based on the reputation of the Tisas 1911s, ordered a Tank Commander in .45 ACP too. I love both of them and have had no problems with either of them. Well, the rear sight of the Raider is pretty tight that I can’t adjust it over (shoots slightly...

I envy you in free states

Well, the borders are open (for now) and haul is still renting trucks. I had a buddy from my old platoon that was born and raised in Chicago finally pull the plug on that state and last year moved to Florida and isn’t missing that place a bit.

    38 law enforcement ammunition

Well, if you want to add in military, the Air Force before adoption of the M9 were some of the last revolver holdouts with the Security Police using 130 grain FMJ in S&W Model 15 revolvers.

    Colt 2000

I’ve always heard the trigger could be best compared to a squirt gun like I had when I was a kid.

    Rossi lever guns

I have a .45 Colt carbine and a .357 Magnum rifle that are great. Both are older pre-idiot button and are handy little rifles. The rifle had problems feeding .38 Special ammo but that’s not uncommon when shooting the shorter rounds out of a .357 Magnum chambered rifle. Even the Marlin 94s were...

Mossberg 500 series slide 1 bar vs 2 bar..........

A lot of excellent shotguns used a single action slide bar without problems. You already mentioned the Winchester Model 12, there is also the 1897, Ithaca Model 37, and High Standard Flite King to name a few. I’ve never heard of anyone complain about the smooth slide operation of the Ithaca or...

Why I Will Never Buy Another Winchester

I just got a Turkchester SXP Defender in 20 gauge a couple months ago. It’s been working just fine although I wasn’t impressed with the more modern Eurotrash looking trigger guard so I got an older 1200 style trigger group off eBay instead. Now I did buy it without having any illusions of it...

My son picked up a Mossberg 835 ultta mag 12 ga today.

I got one with the green synthetic furniture that was my primary (and now a backup) goose gun for years. I did upgrade the but pad to a Limbsaver and the chokes to a set of Kick’s High Flyer chokes and it works great.

    Lever Action .22

Personally, I love my Marlin 39s. The big draw was both their accuracy and their ease of disassembly for cleaning and maintenance. I loved the looks of both the Winchester 9422 and Browning BL22 but something about the whole trigger group dropping on the Browning just seemed odd and the...

Why is #3 Buck almost the only choice for 20 gauge?

#3 buck in 20 gauge is the most common but by no means the only thing out there. Federal makes them in 3” and Winchester makes a 2 3/4 load as well. Academy has their #1 buck load from Monarch (their stores brand) that has been working well for me. I have seen though that their #1 buckshot...
