    Reloading and Uspsa match

Hey guys wanted to share a USPSA match I went to at the Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club in Palm Bay Fl. Great staff. The men in my squad were all friends and very helpful. It was a very relaxed environment. If you are thinking of joining IDPA or USPSA, I highly recommended!

Can you use LARGE RIFLE NATO PRIMERS 500 S&W

This is probably dumb but I'm new to hand loading so figured I would get some advice and recipes for down the road anyways. I just bought my self a 500 S%W 8 3/8 barrel. I have bullets, powder but no primers unless I can use cci 350 large pistol primers. Just been curious If they could work...

    Tumbling/Polishing Ammunition (Post Loading)

Is the polished appearance worth the extra step? Any other reason than appearance? Or do you you consider it completely unnecessary, possibly dangerous, or detrimental to accuracy? In fifty years of reloading I have never tumbled “finished” loads, but evidently some have their own reasons for...

    .300 Blackout Loads: Your Favorites

I am just getting into .300 Blackout. Looking to find the "best" subsonic/cast bullet mold for the .300 and some data. I know to use my manuals but like all of us I like to compare books and recipes. Whats your favorite .300 Blackout/Cast Projectile? What about jacketed bullets? What...

To use, or not to use; that is the question

I have "finally" located small magnum pistol primers in stock. CCI 550. I have several pistols that use small pistol primers. Sig P365 xl 9mm, Glock 22c .40 S&W, Sig P226 MK25 9mm, Astra 600/43 9mm in fine working order. None have the trigger/hammer/firing pin altered. I don't anticipate...

    223 5.56 , M855 62gr FMJ , W748 and 2460

Next load development will be 62gr FMJ BT, but probably not true M855 ballistics, loaded for accuracy. A Carbine and rifle load. My 2 powders will be W748 and AA2460 and cci41 or cci450 primers. My speer manual shows 25.5gr as the max load for 748 in a 223 chamber gun so if I don't get any...

    360 Dan Wesson carbine

Hello, new to reloading and new to this site. I’ve got a couple Rossi 92s The 20” barrel version has a long throat. It can almost chamber a full length 360 Dan Wesson. 360DW= 1.76 OAL and I chamber 1.71 no mods Typical 360DW case trim length is 1.41 Without any mods I can cycle a COL max...

Thrifty vs what I like to reload and shoot

I am not all that finicky about pistol primers and buy the cheapest. I shoot a lot of 9mm and 45acp and use Bullseye powder for both. It's accurate for both 9mm and 45acp and like only having only one pistol powder on the bench. Thrifty (maybe). On the other hand I will splurge on bullets. I...

    H322 and 5.56

I had a few pounds left over from the 1990s that I was going to use up, then I bought some more at a garage sale. https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/223-55gr-fmjbt-h322-16-5-bbl-and-a-chronograph.516652/ I found the same thing when using H322 in 30-30, around the start load accuracy...

    Inconsistent powder throws

I recently started reloading 44mag a little while back. I've been having issues with my Lee pro auto disk powder measure. I cant seem to get consistent charges while using alliant 2400 powder. I will get charges that vary from +/- .1 gn all the way to +/- 1.5 gn. The pro auto disk design just...

    Case gages

I have been reloading for 55+ years and have never owned a case gauge. Last range session my 1911 9mm jammed early in the range session. The round wouldn't plunk when I got it home. Even after running this through my crimp die it wouldn't plunk. So I guess I need a case gauge. I don't want to...

Just a reminder of the dangers of handloading ....

.... my buddies and I are speculating on exactly what he did wrong to suffer a catastrophic failure like this: https://www.wfla.com/news/hillsborough-county/man-was-reloading-ammunition-prior-to-seffner-house-explosion-fire-rescue-says/ Whatever the case may be, Florida Man strikes again. ;)o_O

    Enlarged 9mm Flash Hole

Hey all, I was cleaning some 1x fired 9mm Winchester brass for reloading today and I noticed that the flash hole on a number of the cases was enlarged, in an oblong shape (see photo). Any ideas on what causes this (especially on only 1x fired brass)? Would you consider this safe to reload? Thanks.

Hypothetical self defense handloads for 458 SOCOM

Looking at what bullets would be very effective against soft bodies so I can have at least one mag of it. I'm looking at Maker bullets 300gr TREX, Lehigh 300gr Controlled Fracturing, or Cutting Edge 260gr Maximus copper solid. Kind of limited on powder and only have H110 and Lil Gun, so bullets...

    What makes "match"

I've reloaded several combinations with various bullet and powder types but have not been able to go to the range yet to test them out (work, lots of work). But, what makes a good load? It's a combination of things, obviously, but what things have more of an effect than others? If I can...

    Reliable reloading component suppliers

For me those that have performed through the hard times: Brownells Graffs RMR reloading. There are some other big names out there that haven't performed. Their price is cheaper but they can't find their butt's with both hands.

    Reloading .22 Hornet

I picked up a Springfield M6 rifle this week, in stainless steel. It's almost mint condition. But now I have an ammo problem. I knew this would be the case when I bought it. .22 Hornet is all but impossible to find. I've see a few ads for it going for over $100/box, or $2/round. So, I got...

    Want to start annealing brass

Want to start annealing brass I have been reloading for a long time, but I have never annealed my brass. I have a decent amount of fired brass for 223, 30-30, 270 Win, and 7.7x58 Japanese. The 223 brass has been loaded and reloaded several times. I want to start annealing to get more...

.308 bullet seated too deep. Still safe to shoot?

Hey everybody, I just want to start by saying I’m new to reloading. I loaded some .308 last night using IMR4166 powder. I followed my reloading book and used 44gr of powder. I used Hornady 150gr FMJBT. I trimmed my classes to 2.005. my loading manual said to seat the bullet to 2.800. I started...

    Reloading data for Estate Cartridge

Good evening, I was hoping that some one here would be able to tell me where I can find reloading data for Estate 12 gauge shot shells? I know that the Estate factory is right next door to the Federal cartridge plant and owned by the same company, but I do not know if they use the same method...
