I finally got ahold of the stainless heavy barrel/laminated stock 10/22 that I have wanted for what? 25 years?
I have a Leupold 3.5x10 in the safe. Too much scope for something that will spend most of its life in the safe, with occasional forays to the 50 (and maybe 100) yard ranges.
But it probably qualifies in the "spend as much on the scope as you do on he rifle" category LOL
Your thoughts?

I have been using Burris 6.5-20x50 (1" tube) for 50/100 yard group shooting and switched to Viridian Serac 6-24x50 (30mm tube) on 10/22 with EGW 20 MOA scope rail to center cross hair on turrets and Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24x50 on T/CR22. Too much scope? Not for me when I am trying to aim either for the head or the butt of fly on target. 😆 (Just kidding ... I am just trying to hit the fly)

FWIW, Natchez is currently blowing out Viridian Serac for $95 - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...natchez-tax-refund-sale.929399/#post-12871654

So, what kind of rings should I be looking at?
And, just dug the scope out and had a better look at it.
It actually has a set of rings on it. A bit of research indicates that they are Redfield 90 degree twist-off mounts. Now I just need to find the correct base (seem to recall a one-piece base, set the front mount in, rotate the scope 90 degrees to align with the barrel, then tighten the rear pinch-dealie.
Anyone familiar with this setup, and maybe know where I can find that type of base that would fit a 10/22?
Thank you, Rich

Viridian scope rings come high/medium/low - 30mm High/Medium $25 (1" High/Med/Low $19) - https://viridianoptics.com/products/rings-and-mounts.html

For fullsize modular stock with straight top, I used 30mm high rings like these to bring scope up to my eyes (Picture shows 1" rings used to show fullsize straight stock) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...22lr-on-the-cheap.898035/page-2#post-12214526

But these 30mm medium rings would have worked, especially for regular Ruger/angled stocks $13 from Amazon (Picture shows 1" rings used to show Magpul MOE X-22 stock) - https://www.amazon.com/Viridian-Scope-Rings-Pair-Medium/dp/B0855J36QH/ref=sr_1_4

If you have AR type stock, Viridian Cantilever 30mm mount for $39 and 10% off with WHLS discount code (Expires 4/8) - https://www.opticsplanet.com/viridi...scope-mount.html?_iv_code=99-MT-VRFD-982-0037

I guess Leupold also makes those 90 degree twist off mounts for a 10/22 as well...had one up on the screen a few minutes ago but lost it...

almost everyone makes a set of those, Id be careful using the scope to twist the ring in, some of them take a ton of torque.

IMO it’d be simpler and probably better to buy a different set of rings rather than trying to make those specific rings work.

I pulled a 2.5x bushnell off my Dad's deer rifle, and put it on a 10/22. makes hitting a 4 or 6" gong off hand at 50 yards really easy. I've looked at scopes like the one you're going to put on that 10/22. Hey, if you waited a long time to get the rifle, and you have that scope - seems like the cream of the crop to me. If you have it already, might as well try it out. I bet you like it.

You can adjust the parallax yourself.
Or send it to Leupold and they will do it ( fee plus shipping ).

I did my VX1 at home, pretty simple.

If you dont mind the aesthetics, might want to check on the new Freedom VX 3-9x EFR.
On a sporter sized 1022 it looks right scale wise.

On a target rig id go w a 4-12x AO. But they dont offer one in a 1 inch tube model.

Ran that on my 1022 target rig.

Shame they dont make the old gloss 3.5-10x one inch Adj Obj model anymore. Thatd be my choice for some rimfire and centerfire rifles.

Have one on my old 22 250 Ruger #1. Not enough scope there, but Ruger rings scarred it so there it stays (prev owner had it on rifle ).

Price on used ones is silly

Popped.my VX3i 3.5-10x off my .30-06 ( which is at a shop on consign ).
Nice scope, thought about putting it on my 22 mag.
But it has a lesser VX1 3-9x that works just fine.

So....i guess i need to buy a rifle.

FWIW usually run Burris Signature rings w the plastic inserts. They wont scratch a scope, but on matte finish models can change the look/luster of contact area. Not horrible. But dont expect them to leave a scope looking brand new.

My last matte VX2 4-12xAO had a little change from em.

Oddly my regular standard Zee rings didnt leave any issue on my VX3i. Its still perfect LOL

Thanks to all who replied.

Today I found a stainless Leupold STD base locally, went and picked it up, and installed.
Looks great, just need to take it out and sight it in.

@CraigC, may I assume that "AO" is adjustable objective? And how do I tell if it is AO or not?

Best regards, Rich

Yes. It will have an adjustment ring on the objective. Although side focus is preferable.
