Howdy all!

Ok so here is the idea for the thread in a typical game of golf you get 12 clubs in your golf bag

For us let’s do 12 guns to cover everything you do shooting wise!

So what’s your 12?

The standard 12 clubs in many golf bags may include

  • Three (3) woods – driver, 3-wood and 5-wood
  • Eight (8) irons – 3-9 iron and pitching wedge
  • Putter
  • Have fun with it only rule is it has to be small arms nothing that a single person couldn’t shoot!
  • For me it would be
  • 1) Tikka T1x MTR .22lr
  • 2)savage model 10 fcp-sr 6.5Creed
  • 3)savage model 12 VLP .223 Rem
  • 4.) Tikka T3 lite .308 Winchester
  • 5.)Cz 527 6.5 Grendel
  • 6.) Cmng .350 legend AR -15
  • 7.)Marlin 336 .35 Remington
  • 8.)Model 70 supergrade .264 Winmag
  • 9.)glock 43
  • 10.) Smith&Wesson K-38
  • 11.)Dan Wesson DT Vbob .45 acp
  • 12.)Rem 870 police 12 gauge

Thanks Seamaster I was just thinking the same thing. Though now that I think about it I never carried the long irons mostly because I couldn't hit with them very well! Usually carried a sand wedge instead as I had a pretty decent short game.

I had a classic, all matching set with all nine irons, a fairway driver, three woods and a tee driver(this one was separate), two wedges and two putters. With a ball retriever that had a matching grip too. All in a root beer brown, sparkly vinyl bag the size of my Mini Amazonian. All I needed was a gopher, a thirty nine foot Cadillac and Rodney Dangerfield.:)

So three woods. That’s two tee drivers and a high-loft for me. That could be:
1. 300 PRC Custom Leadsled
3. 6.5 Creedmoor with 150’s in a ARC Mausingfield with a Bartlien gain twist BB400 three groove, in an Orxy chassis.
5. 224 Valkyrie with 88’s AR-15 also custom parted, but assembled by ‘yours truly’.(Way different than the one I’ve got.)

Out in the grass...
1i. 300 Dakota, in a Dakota, obviously.
3i. 6.5 Creedmoor with 120’s in a Browning Hell’s Canyon Long Range Fusion Fiber.
4i. 30-06 with 180 Interbonds, in a Savage 110 Elite Precision left hand.
5i. Buckmark, yup.
7i. Desert Eagle, 50AE.
9i. Alchemy Customs 1911, custom...

Sand wedge. AR-15 223 REM, mine aught to do nicely.
Pitch wedge. AR-15 12guage, ala’ RIA VR-80.

Putter: Savage M12 223 Remington, really sinks ‘em.;)

Which one is your putter?

Now for my 14 clubs:
1) Colt AR 15
2) FEG SA 85M
3) Ruger 10/22
4) Maverick 88
5) Colt Combat Commander .45
6) Colt Commander .38 Super/9mm.
7) Browning Hi-Power
8) Kahr CM9
9) CZ P07
10) SIG P238
11) S&W Model 686
12) S&W Model 649
13) Beretta Model 70S
14) Ruger Model 512

AR15 (any good mid range)
Maverick 88
Glock 17
Marlin model 60
Ruger Super Blackhawk 44MAG

That’s all the clubs I need but I like variations of the same design so I would have numerous Glocks for different applications. Like a 43 for deep conceal carry. A 21 just because. A 22 just because. A 19 because everyone else has one. And a 43x because it’s perfect. :D

You can have Up to 14 clubs but the general accepted rule is 12 clubs such as I laid out above and this is more about the guns
Hmmm, that may be a local custom as I’ve never heard that rule growing up playing golf. PGA rules of 14 in the bag always applied in all of the tournaments I played in, but for sake of the thread my 12 are:

S&W 686 4” .357
Ruger Mk II 6.5” bull barrel .22 LR
Glock 19 9mm
Ruger SRH 7.5” 44 Mag

BCM 14.5” AR 15 5.56
Ruger 10-22 .22 LR
CZ 550 American .30-06
Marlin 336 .30-30
Remington 700 .243

Rem 870 12 gauge 18” w/rifle sights
Beretta A303 12 gauge 3” 28”
Win 101 20 gauge 28”

Stay safe.

for my world:
1. 12ga 870 supermag. Waterfowl, turkeys
2. 12 ga 1100 sporting competition. Clay games.
3. 20 ga LC Smith sxs. Upland, wingshooting
4. 12 ga 870 HD
5. AR 556mm farm defender
6. 30-06 big game
7. 22 auto target rifle. Plinking, hunting, target shooting.
8 45 bp flintlock. Targets and hunting
9. 54 Hawken. Targets and hunting.
10. 357 da revolver. Target, hunt, ccw.
11. 22 auto pistol. Target, plink, hunt, train.
12. 45 SAA target, plink, hunt, ccw, HD, SD.

This isn't a fantasy list. Its my reality.

Well I don't play golf but the only firearms I would need are a 303 enfield, marlin model 60, blackhawk 6in 44 mag, Glock 19 and a 590. Will take care of anything I could need.

Will take care of anything I could need.
Unless you’re even par and need an Eagle to win, but you’re still 200 out and need a drop in...
Oh, or maybe the Enfield is a sleeper. Like Rodney’s 12 gauge driver!:D

Hrrmmm.....Im gonna have to research golf now or my analogies won't be correct........
That’s why I should have chosen two putters! A 223 is a bit much for putting distance!:)

Steel plates instead of cups? How about steel cups hung from a chain the same size as the tin cups? I’ve used a steel pipe with a top welded to it, it rang much nicer than the plates, but glancing shots made me nervous. And it was heavy!

1-Short 20ga 870 with light for "varmints". Short game
2-Short(ish) 223 bolt action for further away "varmints". Long game

3-Scoped bolt action 30.06.For bigger long game
4-Sharps 45/70.For long game in the rough
5-44 mag Marlin. For short game in the rough
6-44 mag Ruger Blackhawk. Putter..?

Dont play golf, but I assume the objective is to select appropriate clubs as the range decreases based on their weight and the shape of the head?

So, if I had to arrange my weapons in descending order from longest to shortest range (assuming targets that shoot back, otherwise Id pack the list with .22s)-

Greater than 300yd:
1) Weatherby Vanguard .30-06 topped with a Burris 24X Black Diamond
2) POF P308 topped off with a 14X Nightforce
100-300yd:
3)Andersen DMR/AR .223 with Burris 9X Fullfield
4)Savage M99 .243, Weaver K4 on top
5)M1 Garand
6)1903A3
100-25yd:
8)Delton M4
9)M1 Carbine
Under 25yd:
10)Browning Auto5
11)M686 .357
12)Beretta M9

driver... it’s all for show. Bombing off the tee box means nothing if your irons aren’t good afterwards so it’s gotta be long range and showy. As much as I want to say a Barrett 50, I think I’m going old school and starting things off right with a sharps. Most are 45-70 so why not be a bit showy and go 50-110.

got 2 more woods in my bag. One of them I can actually hit with, so I’m going with the one that’s wild as all get out and can’t hit anything with but it’s fun to try... AK... and the one I use the most and get the most out of... rem 700 in .270.

now here’s where it all falls apart for me. I’m worthless with irons. I have to pick 8 of them... and irons are midrange. So, from long to short I’m picking...
Contender pistol (I’ll never part with it)
Marlin 336 (My grandfathers)
Marlin guide gun 45-70
S&W model 10
Buntline special
I love my Ruger 9” single six
And I always wanted a mkII 9”

here’s where it gets interesting because these are the clubs I actually use. Wedges. I’m not worth a flip with irons or woods, and once I’m away from the clubhouse I’m hitting a sand wedge off of the tee. I carry sand and pitching wedges. Both of these are heirlooms.
Mossberg 500 20 ga
Marlin 60

now we are down to the putter. Where games are won. Up close and personal, gotta do it time and time again like a machine. I have a few good ones but nothing better than my S&W 30-1. It just doesn’t know how to miss.
