No it's not, unless there are no hospitals, emergency rooms, or anti-biotics. Then it's a very good deterrent, as any bullet wound might result in a slow agonizing death later.I can’t really see the .31 stoked with black powder being a serious defensive weapon.
I have heard that true outlaws in the old west were more scared of pocket guns than horse pistols. Not afraid of dying, but afraid of a slow and painful death. Seems a shotgun would have been the most fearsome of all weapons by that logic, definitely would have been terrible with #4s poking a couple inches deep from an up close and personal situation. No it's not, unless there are no hospitals, emergency rooms, or anti-biotics. I wonder if brass doesn't hold up better in .31" than it would/does with the .36's and .44's? My interest in that pistol, besides just the cool-factor (or cutie factor?) would be as something to carry for small game, in which case accuracy would be my main concern.
Maybe they had different outlaws back then. Outlaws in my limited experience generally are kinda dumb and or unconcerned with consequences. (once arrested a guy who'd tried to burglarize a warehouse surrounded by barbed wire topped cyclone fencing. He was hanging by his pants cuffs caught in the barbed wire and was never so happy to see anyone as he was to see me.)Yes, I believe that is why even outlaws were more "polite" back then. !!!!!
Truth. I worked in a prison/DOC for quite a while, what I saw was a lot of drug and alcohol use leading them outlaws astray. A lot of their dumb stuff being done while high or intoxicated. Or desperate to get high or intoxicated. Kind of dulls one's sense of consequences. !!! On dumb, some guys I met and got to know were very intelligent, but in that case, it was usually a case of "I'm smarter than everyone else so I can get away with it". !! Not realizing that no matter how smart you think you are, there is always someone smarter.Maybe they had different outlaws back then. Truth. And don't forget the Outlaw Josey Wales.Outlaws back then ran the gamut from Black Bart the gentleman bandit to John Wesley Hardin one the bloodiest killers.
Yeah but he was one of the good bad guys…Truth. And don't forget the Outlaw Josey Wales.
I have had several, over many decades. I keep forgetting how crappy they are and trade into another one. The loading lever pivot is very thin an prone to break. Do not try to force oversized balls into the cylinder with that lever. Load the cylinder separately, off the revolver.https://www.dixiegunworks.com/index...w+Model+Pocket+Remington+Revolver+Brass+Frame so anyone have one of these and what do you think about it??
However, for BP only use the brasser is a little cutie as a "non-firearm" CCW gun...
I’ve met a few criminals who were quite intelligent. If they weren’t drug addicts they were often just misfits, scheming and looking for an easy way to make a score. Had more than a few conversations about this and I would point out the most successful criminals hardly ever made more money over a span of years than some guy showing up at a construction site and working his 40-50 hours a week. One guy told me, yea but that’s a boring way to live… (we’d arrested him for strong arm robbery and armed robbery after a fairly exciting car chase.) I said well, you’ll always have the memories while you’re doing time down in Canon City… didn’t seem upset about that in the slightest.Truth. Yeah...like shuffling around the day-room seven days a week with a coffee cup in your hand is not a boring way to live....!!! Indeed some of them guys are good at out-smarting themselves. One guy told me, yea but that’s a boring way to live…
Is it accurate enough to hit a grouse or rabbit at 15 yards, and kill it too?I got a .32 short conversion cylinder too and it's like shooting a BB pistol unless you charge up the percussion cylinder to the max.
I doubt it .... but miracles happen. If you hit a grouse, yes ... but rabbits ehhh, I'd go for a head shot and pray.Is it accurate enough to hit a grouse or rabbit at 15 yards, and kill it too?
