I don't know about that one but the standard Pietta is bigger than an original and has really fat grips unless you get one made before 2000. I can't imagine one any bigger.

The only part of that mod that's 'oversized' is on the grip, it's longer.

The photo in the link is not one of those.

Era’s Gone did a comparison of the Pietta/Uberti/original models. I think they determined Uberti was undersized and Pietta was oversized relative to the original. Considering the Uberti 1858 is one of the largest revolvers I own, I can’t imagine wanting it oversized.

Hubbs, in a Tale of Two Remingtons concluded that the Pietta Rem is the closest in size to the original.

Uberti is bigger than the originals. Pietta is bigger than Uberti. The only ones that were the same size are all out of business now. ASM, ASP and Rigarmi are a few that were the same size as originals.

It’s not straight forward. According to Hubbs’ data, the Uberti IS oversized in terms of overall length, but weighs less than the original, likely due to a slightly undersized frame.

The grip frame isn't any smaller.

I would tend to agree with this. I have an Uberti and a Euroarms (Armi San Paolo). Putting them side by side, the ASP is noticeably more delicate, although they are close to the same overall size (the top strap on the ASP is thinner). I would be more comfortable firing the beefier Uberti with a conversion cylinder, although the same conversion cylinder would work in either of them. From what I've seen, the Pietta is larger than all of them.

Oversized, undersized, both can be modified. The oversized can be trimmed down and the undersized built up (panels).
