Bought this guy new in 99 for $219. It's a blued fix sight 6in model. I absolutely love this gun. Never a problem with it. Loads and shoots everything. And it's darned accurate. The one and only reason I cuss it, is when it comes time to take it apart to clean. It's a pain to do, even knowing how to do it, it's a pain.
In all seriousness, this gun is a true keeper. I'm sure glad I bought it way back.

My first trip down the Ruger .22 auto lane was a blue 6 7/8” Government Target Model that I bought used about 15-16 years ago.

I liked that gun so much I’ve added an abused-and-resurrected Standard Model and a Mk IV that has a Volquartsen fire control set up and swappable uppers in 10”, 5.5” and 5.5” with a red dot.

Fun guns, all.

Stay safe.

Some day I hope to be in the right place and time to find a MkII standard 4" (preferably stainless)

I had a MkII 22/45 4" bull barrel bit couldn't warm up to the grip (grip panels were molded in) nor the non-standard mags that weren't interchangeable with the 5¼" so I let it go.

Buddy has a 5½ bull barrel that he bought around the same time.

He used to shoot the thumbtacks out of my targets causing it to drop to the ground 😡

My pistol was capable of doing that to him but my skills weren't.

The Mark 2’s are great I have a Mark 2 Target Stainless that my father in-law gave me shortly before he passed away. It has the quick take down kit installed on it but his words we’re don’t take it apart just flush it out well with gun cleaner spray and then give it a spray of Hornady One Shot gun cleaner/lube. I tried to take it down once took me an hour to get it back together. The one I have is extremely accurate even more accurate than my friends Mark 4 Competition model which really irritates him. I use it and my S&W 14-2 for competitions both are old but accurate.

Government Models have adjustable sights and a 6 7/8" barrel or at least all I have seen have.

I have several MK I and II pistols. The take down and reassembly of one is rather simple once you learn that the proper angle of the hammer strut is key when putting the mainspring back in.

I also have several mark 2s. Favorite is the Lipsey 5.5 inch slab side. But they are all great pistols!
