I guess I am looking at the coal a little differently than everyone else. I will use the 30-06 as an example, as it is the parent case for the 25-06.
Now, max coal states 30-06 should be at 3.34. But if I have the a reamer throated for heavies, and a magazine that could feed it, then I would have no problem loading 06 to 3.4 or even 3.5 inches depending on where it meets the lands of course. This frees up boiler room and still seats the bullet at an optimum length.
So, assuming you had a appropriate twist and proper reamer. There is no reason, if somebody produced a heavy for cal 25 bullet with a great bc, that I couldn't use said bullet and push it to moderate velocities.
Or maybe I'm completely wrong and should stick to my 6.5's and occasional 30 cal. After all, there is no shortage in high bc bullets for alot of calibers. Which is why I don't see myself owning a 25 cal anything for a while. Just too many other good choices out there.
