Well put. Can't and won't argue there.I would go with the 270, since it shoots flatter, has less recoil, and you don't lose any power at range with it. The 30-06 is nice, historic, and fun to say, but otherwise the 270 is simply better...
I have to echo this statement, emphasis added, and I mean nothing whatsoever....there's nothing wrong with a 270.
Yes. Good info. The OP should see the writing on the wall now....between a 30-06 and .308. the 270 will shoot flatter...
It comes down to this.
If you only hunt deer country, and you can reguraly spot deer past 300 yards get the 270 no doubt about it.
If you hunt or plan to hunt Elk, moose, black bear, or trophy hog, the 30-06 has a clear advantage over any 270. 200gr and 220gr heavyweight bullets just put the 06 in a different class for killing the really big stuff.
