After months of waiting on parts and accessories, it's finally here. Just in time for the panic to make all the ammo and reloading components vanish. 20200421_170211.jpg
Left to right: 308Win, 30-06, 7mm REM, 300 PRC

I managed to snag a couple boxes of match ammo from the Runnings in Glendive so I can at least sight it in and have some brass to start hand loading. 20200424_145718.jpg

Ha, sorry. You pretty much nailed it though. I bought everything on the cheap via the classifieds on the Accurate Shooter and Long Range Hunter boards.

KRG Bravo $425
Defiance Deviant Hunter $1100
Proof 28" 9 Twist $675
Timney Calvin Elite (Already Had)
Bushnell DMR II G2 $1000
Warne Maxima QD rings $86
APA Lil-B Gen 2 $90

Chambered and assembled by Alliance Custom Armory in SD.

@Demi-human that's Lola. She's less of a small horse and more of a GIANT schnauzer.

Hornady 225gr ELD-M Factory ammo:

10 shots
2941 AVG
23 SD 48 ES
Two Different groups both measured about an inch at 120 yards, three touching and two high and right in both cases. Not super impressed but we'll see what handloading can do once the brass comes out of the tumbler.

I've got 200 each 225gr ELD-Ms and a pound of both H1000 and Ramshot LRT to try out.

I am definitely watching with interest too. I am also looking around for brass, dies and whatnot and seeing it mostly out of stock.

@Nature Boy It's an APA Little B@stard, recoil is like a 30-06. Certainly more tame than my 300 WSM. I haven't weighed it yet but here are the manufacturers weight claims:

KRG Bravo 3.2 lbs
Proof Blank 3.5 lbs
Deviant Hunter 2.4 lbs
Bushnell DMRII 2.3 lbs
Warne Rings 0.4 lbs
APA Little B 0.25 lbs
Atlas Bipod (Not pictured) 0.8 lbs
Magazine ?

Total: 12.45 lbs

Sexy beast!

The .300prc is on my list of more interesting cartridges, and this is a nice platform for it.

Nice rig, clearly you like the action because you picked it, like to see how you like it after some time.I'm not big fan of 30cal but if I did build one the prc would be up there.

Today was a fantastic train-wreck. I do have some data to share though, not sure how helpful it is considering my issues.

Firstly, the issues...wind was into 30 MPH territory and I couldn't keep the target up. My muzzle brake started turning out of its own volition and then I found that my action screws were loose, so groups were erratic at best, then the rain started. Velocities seem low based on published data with 24" barrels.

Load Info:

@Orcon, this is a cool thread. I was thinking about a Proof 300 PRC barrel for my Accuracy International AWM (.300 Win Mag) but with a 3.65" max COAL due to the magazine I'm not sure the view is worth the climb.

Any thoughts on adding a suppressor to your setup?

You can make it work if you're willing to seat the bullets deeper. Bullets shorter than 212 ELD-X or Berger 215 Hybrids can fit in a standard AICS magazine with no problem and still hit max velocities. H1000 max loads at my seating length was less than 90% case fill, plenty of shakey-shake after seating. At this time I'm more interested in a $1.30 noise dampener that I can buy same day over one that costs $200 over MSRP and takes 15 months to recieve.

Thanks for the tip re bullet selection. You'll have to elaborate on a "$1.30 noise dampener" ... is that a pair of earplugs? Suppressors are well worth the cost and the wait .... to me anyway. If you're up in Kalispell and want to try out a couple or three then PM me.

It is ear plugs; saves me 9" of barrel length plus the government bull****. And I can say that I've never "accidentally" built a hearing conservation "device". Seating depth info coming soon.

Using the Berger method of finding proper seating depth:

76.5gr H1000
COAL
3.675 Low left
3.625 1st dot
3.575 2nd dot
3.525 3rd dot

I'd say you can run a standard length AICS mag and still have good utility with this cartridge. The load was not compressed with any of these seating depths.

Pictures attached warts and all.

3.700" is what I originally did load development with which was 0.025" from lands. The groups were not stellar. After that I decided to pick my lowest SD charge and follow the Berger VLD seating depth method so the first low/left group was 0.050" off then I backed out 0.040" from there. So the best group was about 0.090" from the lands.
