Let's say I found $350 under a couch cushion (ok, actually, it was a birthday present, but still), and want to use it to expand my milsurp collection. I own a lot of guns, so please, no suggestions of non milsurp or anything like that, I have all those bases covered already.

For milsurp stuff, I already own:
1 pa-63
1 bulgarian makarov
2 cz-82's
2 p-64's
2 p-83's
1 nagant revolver
1 sks
4 mosins (varied kinds)
1 P38 (actually, a P1, but same thing)
ak-47 and ak-74 (if that counts as surplus)

I do have a c&r. If it's not a c&r item, my FFL charges $25. I want to keep total purchase price (gun + shipping + ffl fee if needed) at $350.

Suggestions? I know I kind of already have one of most of the commonly available items. I was thinking another bulgy mak maybe, because I'm a fan of them and who knows how long these nice surplus ones will be readily available from SOG... but, damn, AIM has pristine SKS's in stock, and you're not going to be finding them in that condition for much longer. And of course, I think my P1 is my favorite surplus pistol, so maybe I ought to pick up another while they're everywhere.

But then again.. maybe now is the time to get a K-31 or K98.

Agh. Life is full of difficult decisions.

Any ideas? I see SOG has a few varieties of BHP clones, but I figured that for a BHP, I might as well buy a nice shiny new one when I get around to it.

K-31 is a great choice and a great shooter. I also really like Enfields and you can get a No. 4 and have some money left over if you look hard enough. I picked up a beautiful BSA Enfield last year for $225. For just a little more cash, you could get an M1917, one of my personal favorites and a US rifle from WWI! Czech vz24 or Yugo M48 is also a good choice in 8mm Mauser. God I love milsurps!

I really would like a K-31. That's a real consideration.

Darn it. JG is out of K-31's. They do have some swiss 1911 rifles left though. Hmm..

I would have advised you get a CZ82, some magazines and a pile of ammo, but you already have two.

You're short on Tokarev, though. Pick up a Tok or CZ52, some magazines and a pile of ammo, and make sure your shooting club membership is paid up for the year (or escape the rental range and join a club!)

Or you could buy half a Garand from the CMP.
Or you could look into a .22 trainer for your favorite rifle/pistol.

In the last year I've picked up a Czech 98/22, a Czech-built Turkish Mauser of mixed ancestry, and a professionally sporterized MAS-36 for a total price that's just slightly higher than your limit.

It can be done, if you're patient.

I've actually been doing a lot of looking at milsurps the past couple of days.

$350 MIGHT get you an SKS if you stumble on the right deal. Mind, I'm in Kalifornistan so our prices are inflated.

I've been concentrating on finding a nice Mosin Nagant 91/30 to keep my M38 (I think) carbine company.

I fondled an 8mm Mauser at Big 5 recently. It looked like it had been refurbished, the bolt was like buttah, I was very tempted. $300.

Personally ... I'd put that money asside, and save another $350 so you can get a service grade M1 Garand from CMP.

You should be able to get a pretty nice Enfield for $350. I got a No4 Mk I with matching serial numbers and a bore as shiny as a new penny for that.

If you buy a cz52 you will pay 300 for a 100 dollar pistol. Gee, how about a tok of some kind or an excellent yugo 24/47 mauser? Just a thought.

The 1911 Schmidt-Rubins are classics and extremely accurate. Very steampunk, too.

The 1886/93 Lebel is a fine rifle and getting tougher to snag for that price range.

The Venezuelan or Argie 09 Mausers are classics. Also the Persian long Mausers.

Not sure what you have, but pre-war Finn Mosins are getting tougher to find but you can land them for that price. I'd suggest an m28 or M28-30.

Or for handguns I'd suggest a Swiss Ordinance revolver. REALLY fine craftsmanship.

I do like my SMLE, No1, Mk III. Classic rifle that served during WWI and WWII and beyond.

I see you don't have a TT-33 or M57 comrade! Obtain one as it is your comrade-ly duty!:D

Anyway, the Hakim rifle is very interesting indeed, 8mm Mauser and of Egyptian build. A bit pricey but I've seen a few decent looking and more importantly operational models at my LGS for 300$ and some as high as 500$. Look for one that has not been "bubba'd" because they can be dangerous when tampered with.
