Took a little THR break… But I found this!!! and had to share! WOW. They wanted $1399 no box and if they could find the box $1599. They could not find the box :(

Anyway, at my tacti-cool shop. Already bought it so don’t pull my rug. 😂

Mint condition!

I bought my son the 22 version for a Christmas present many years ago. I haven't really kept up with value of these but I believe it has beaten inflation a little in the 22 version.

Congratulations on your new toy. Enjoy the baby Python.
don’t it look just like a Baby Python!!!

my Honey Hole shop has a .22 DB 4” with lots of holster wear… $2200! no joke

Decent deal for a high condition gun., I'd love a 4" version. I've got the 2 1/2" version but the 4" is a better shooter.
2 1/2 “ version are very expensive ! look it up.

I was talking with some collectors and they said DB has gone up to Old Python prices in the last few years

I don't understand people's fixation with "the box" and what they'll pay for it.

But hey...everybody's got their quirks and are fully entitled to indulge in them!

Me...if the price difference between box and no box is $200, keep the box. For $200 I can make the most AWESOME wood display box out of some pretty exotic woods for that kind of money!

Anyway...awesome find, dude! Enjoy fondling and shooting it!

Range report soon! Will definitely be shooting this very smooth DA gun!

I only like the box because everyone says to like it! Yes, I would jump off a cliff too! 😂

$200 off for no box is Cool with my too!

I personally like it when a gun comes in the right box, but it isn't a deal breaker for me if it is something I like and want. I just picked up a couple revolvers, both in their original boxes, and one had the original sales receipt in it as well! The boxes didn't cost extra! And no locks! A 648 .22WMR 6" and a 625-2 .45ACP 5".

I probably would have paid $1599 for it without the box. It’s a 1975 very mint condition, minus a small buff mark on the cylinder. But when the shop said $1399 because they couldn’t find the box… Was like… even BETTER! lol

I didn’t even have to negotiate!

those are some pretty no lock Smiths!

I regret selling off mine, got a grand for it 4-5 years ago....

Fun fact, the barrels were made from Python stock, only the stamping is different.

Nice score, enjoy!
5-7 months ago, Same shop, was window shopping, clerk puts down a 6” Old Python, Nickel or Stainless, been fired but very good condition, box… $2,000

before I knew that Nickel Pythons were pretty expensive, I handled it, and was going to the parking lot to look it up. Other Clerk was on the phone, I handed him back the gun. Other Clerk puts a HOLD sign on it.

Was the funniest Colt Python moment I ever had.

as a investment, I’m going to buy and hold a few of these! especially from this Taci-Cool shop

how did it shoot? I’m definitely going to put a few rounds thur it. See how it compares to New Colt Python
Wellllllll......
Honestly, I didn't think it was particularly accurate. Smooth, pretty, but not a great shooter- in my hands, anyway.
Kinda why I sold it, wanted to put the money towards a 6" M14 or Officer's Model. Both of which I have now and I shoot them much better than the DiamondBack. Still regret selling it, though.
If I get another it'll be a .22 next time.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

Diamondbacks fit my hand nearly perfectly, but the cheapest one I ever saw in person was rusty and $600. Should have bought it.
not even exaggerating, a 4” Blue .22 with lots of holster wear is selling for $2200 at my local honey hole shop.

the shop owner is a well know collector and he prices a little under average price.

Don’t know why the DB has become so poplar is the last year.

Oh, they've been red hot ever since The Walking Dead rekindled the snake-gun craze. Its really just a Police Positive Target with a fancy barrel and a special (somewhat strange) hammer.

Some unsavory 'smiths used .22 Diamondback barrels to turn rimfire Troopers into ".22 Pythons" in the days before the internet, then sold them as high $$$$ collectibles. Rimfire Pythons had been mentioned in some dealer promo materials, but they never went into full production.

There actually were somewhere between 10-20 factory custom .22 Pythons made as executive retirement gifts, but none cataloged or sold to the public

Pretty guns but my Diamondback .22 is no great shakes as a shooter either. It just doesn't have the accuracy nor the DA or SA trigger that my Smiiths have. Hope yours works out for you Mark. Pic below comparing the Colt DB with my Smith M-18 Best regards, Rod
