don’t it look just like a Baby Python!!!I bought my son the 22 version for a Christmas present many years ago. I haven't really kept up with value of these but I believe it has beaten inflation a little in the 22 version.
Congratulations on your new toy. Enjoy the baby Python.
2 1/2 “ version are very expensive ! look it up.Decent deal for a high condition gun., I'd love a 4" version. I've got the 2 1/2" version but the 4" is a better shooter.
well they are worth a pretty Penny NOW!Nice score!!
I have a 4" 22 and 4" 38. Also the correct factory stocks for both. I bought the 22 used in about '93 for $150. The .38 I bought in about 2010 for $400 to match the .22.

Range report soon! Will definitely be shooting this very smooth DA gun!I don't understand people's fixation with "the box" and what they'll pay for it.
But hey...everybody's got their quirks and are fully entitled to indulge in them!
Me...if the price difference between box and no box is $200, keep the box. For $200 I can make the most AWESOME wood display box out of some pretty exotic woods for that kind of money!
Anyway...awesome find, dude! Enjoy fondling and shooting it!
I probably would have paid $1599 for it without the box. It’s a 1975 very mint condition, minus a small buff mark on the cylinder. But when the shop said $1399 because they couldn’t find the box… Was like… even BETTER! lolI personally like it when a gun comes in the right box, but it isn't a deal breaker for me if it is something I like and want. I just picked up a couple revolvers, both in their original boxes, and one had the original sales receipt in it as well! The boxes didn't cost extra! And no locks! A 648 .22WMR 6" and a 625-2 .45ACP 5".

5-7 months ago, Same shop, was window shopping, clerk puts down a 6” Old Python, Nickel or Stainless, been fired but very good condition, box… $2,000I regret selling off mine, got a grand for it 4-5 years ago....
Fun fact, the barrels were made from Python stock, only the stamping is different.
Nice score, enjoy!
how did it shoot? I’m definitely going to put a few rounds thur it. See how it compares to New Colt PythonI regret selling off mine, got a grand for it 4-5 years ago....

Love Those grips!!!Good score champion. I was fortunate enough to grab this 4" 22 a couple months back myself
Diamondbacks are right cool, not a bad shooter. I'll be on the lookout for a 38 in the future

not even exaggerating, a 4” Blue .22 with lots of holster wear is selling for $2200 at my local honey hole shop.Diamondbacks fit my hand nearly perfectly, but the cheapest one I ever saw in person was rusty and $600. Should have bought it.
Oh, they've been red hot ever since The Walking Dead rekindled the snake-gun craze. Its really just a Police Positive Target with a fancy barrel and a special (somewhat strange) hammer.not even exaggerating, a 4” Blue .22 with lots of holster wear is selling for $2200 at my local honey hole shop.
the shop owner is a well know collector and he prices a little under average price.
Don’t know why the DB has become so poplar is the last year.
Pretty guns but my Diamondback .22 is no great shakes as a shooter either. It just doesn't have the accuracy nor the DA or SA trigger that my Smiiths have. Hope yours works out for you Mark. Pic below comparing the Colt DB with my Smith M-18 Best regards, RodWellllllll......
Honestly, I didn't think it was particularly accurate. Smooth, pretty, but not a great shooter- in my hands, anyway.
Kinda why I sold it, wanted to put the money towards a 6" M14 or Officer's Model. Both of which I have now and I shoot them much better than the DiamondBack. Still regret selling it, though.
If I get another it'll be a .22 next time.
Your mileage may vary, of course.
will be looking for a .22 Python Trooper then!Oh, they've been red hot ever since The Walking Dead rekindled the snake-gun craze. Its really just a Police Positive Target with a fancy barrel and a special (somewhat strange) hammer.
Some unsavory 'smiths used .22 Diamondback barrels to turn rimfire Troopers into ".22 Pythons" in the days before the internet, then sold them as high $$$$ collectibles. Rimfire Pythons had been mentioned in some dealer promo materials, but they never went into full production.
There actually were somewhere between 10-20 factory custom .22 Pythons made as executive retirement gifts, but none cataloged or sold to the public
