7.5" SBR...worth it?

But I still think it's a good idea to help keep the NFA registry accurate.

I agree sort of, their stupid rules mean what I put on the form can only be an estimate since I can't have the parts on hand for accurate measurements without being open to "constructive" possession. So if I'm off a bit when its all together, F'm I'm not wasting any more time with paperwork.

On topic, the 7.5" are the most fun if you like blast and flash, you'll get a lot of attention at the range, and anyone shooting next to you will hate you :)
The 10-11" are more "practical" because they are easier to suppress, few cans are rated for the higher "uncorking" pressure of the 7.5" barrels, most are fine with 10-11" barrels.

What is the source of the parts on this $450 7.5" gun?

I have built 4 or 5 PSA branded AR15's for around $500 or lower. My last one was $550 with Magpul BUIS Rear sight and a PSA Nickel Boron BCG and a new PMAG. You just have to watch the deals. $49 lowers, $199 upper kits, $50 stripped uppers, they used to have $25 LPKs, but in the last year I think $35 was cheapest I have seen, $19 UBK's.

Heck, last week I bought a 7.5" 5.56 and 8.25" .300 BLK PSA barrel for $80 each.

All of which I have shot over 100 rds thru them and had had any problem. Two I still have, the others were intended for family and friends.

I just ran across a brand I had never heard of complete rifle for $399. It needed a mag and rear sight only. I believe it was a polymer lower but my point is sub $550 guns are not overly hard to find.

My 5.56 SBR is 10.5" just because I heard about the reliability issues with a 7.5". Also I read about the ballistics drop. 10.5" seemed to be where I was comfortable enough to accept with the ammo and intended purpose I wanted. The other big reason was my suppressor highly recommended, maybe even did not warranty (I cant remember) shooting on anything less then 10" barrels (10.3" or 10.5"?)

I still ended up with a reliability issue. It either FTE / FTF with the suppressor on with brass or failed to feed with it off with steel. I changed out the buffer spring and buffer and it runs flawlessly once again.

I will add that my 10.5 without the suppressor puts out quite the fireball and noise. Lets just say even in an outdoor range, the people to my right for 2-3 stalls typically do not fire until I am reloading or step away. At the range or in a class I typically volunteer to risk hot brass and all the percussion to be to the far right out of courtesy. I could only imagine the 7.5" is significantly worse.

You may want to look at something that redirects the noise away from the end of the gun. I have heard great things about the Noveske Flaming Pig or similar.

Good luck.

The thing about the pig (and I own one) is that it adds a significant amount of legnth and weight. Even the new version adds 3.5" and 4.5 oz. Why not just add more barrel and get the other advantages of that? I took my pig off when I got a suppressor and the difference in handling and feel with it off is noticeable.
