7.62x39 Pistol WOW!!!

I was going to say in my earlier post but forgot, nearly everyone that has shot mine starts asking how much they sale for and are interested in getting one. They are a good time.

I eventually plan to load some with CFE BLK and try to achieve the velocities you and others have been wringing out of the x39mm. Maybe try some 160gr FTX's. Wasn't it you that played around with those not too long ago with good results?
Yes, I had great accuracy and hunting results from the 160 FTX out of my Savage 7.62x39. And CFE BLK is no joke in this caliber. It's a must try powder. 2550-2600 fps with 123 SST's out of my 20" barrels.

RL-7 is still a hair better under the heavies, but I've found no better powder than CFE BLK for the 123's.

For all the naysayers that say the x39 isn't accurate, won't hit a barn, etc etc. Well myself and many knowledgeable people here know that's just not the case.

Get a quality barrel, ammo, and voila you'll have a good shooter. Well recently I picked up a Hardened Arms 10.5" 7.62x39 pistol upper and slapped a Sig Romeo red dot and a 5x magnifier on it. Shooting factory Federal Fusion 123 grain here is shots at 50 yards.View attachment 831557

Then I moved to 100 yards and made a single shot.View attachment 831558

Decided to shoot some water filled milk jugs at 100 yards to check expansion with the slower velocity of the pistol barrel, it penetrated 4 gallon jugs and stopped in the 5th. Bullet weighed 119.8 grains and can't get much better than this.

Gonna do some deer hunting with it next year and I'm sure it's gonna be fine at reasonable ranges. And I couldn't be happier :)
The cartridge is plenty accurate, it is the AK type rifles that are pretty bad for accuracy. That cartridge works well in bolt rifles.

Looks like I'm not alone with the love of the Russian round. I used my 16" carbine 7.62x39 and a reloaded .308 diameter 135 FTX and dropped 2 deer this past deer season. Shots were ~30 yards and both ran about that far and fell. Now to wait til next season to bloody my pistol.

Give the 135 FTX a try. My 16" AR Carbine shoots very very accurate with them and CFE BLK. 2285 fps with 27.3 grains and not a max load. *Caution* there is NO LOAD DATA published. I killed a some deer with them this past season. Accurate and lethal.

And for the guy who asked for a pic.

Well, I still am in the "thought" portion. Other words, I haven't researched much loading data but Im thinking of trying a couple .308" bullets (135gr FTX & 160gr FTX) for a whitetail round for my kids.

Of course I would have to eventually try the little 123gr SST, which I think is .311", as lots of people are stating velocities of 2600fps with below max loads. My CZ don't like this bullet in the steel match loading from Hornady but I'd like to try it myself still.

Here is my experience with my 7.62x39 and the 135 grain .308 diameter FTX.

But of course for you guys who may not reload the BEST factory ammo for 7.62x39 and medium game is the 123 grain Federal Fusion.

Nice pistol!

7.62x39 fan here too. Mostly Tula, but I've put a few Hornady 123gr SST steel case through it with 2" at 100 groups.

Here's some 80 yard action with Tula 123gr. I was sitting on the ground leaning back against the truck tire.

PSA upper, UTG handguards, Primary Arms 3X prism sight.

My cheap 16" carbine upper shoots very well also and obviously my pistol does too. Ammo is cheap, and plentiful for plinking. Use American made soft points for medium game. The guns are reliable and accurate what's not to like, quickly becoming 2 of my favorites.

Not an AR, but a 7.92x39mm M92 pistol anyway. I haven't tried putting groups on paper, but I have it printing exactly on the tritium dot front sight at 25yds as of now. I suspect when I get around to adding a red dot that it will be more than accurate enough for its purpose.

So this is one of my MGM barrels. My other is a .357 magnum. I took a nice buck two years ago with this. Like Car Junkie above, it is bored to .308, so I use 150gr. bullets in a 7.62 case. My 3 main hunting guns are the Super Blackhawk in my avatar, (.44mag), this Encore with my .357 barrel, and this 7.62 barrel. I'm more accurate at 100 yards with any of these pistols than any shotgun I own. I'm in a non-rifle county, and have thus been handgun hunting for well over 20 years now. MGM makes some of the most accurate barrels I've ever shot. When I shoot my .357, I use 180gr. Black Tallons, and I'm in the black (4" diam.) out to 75yds, and drop 1" at 100yds. This 7.62 I haven't shot past 100yds yet, but I will at some point, just to find my point blank range.

I have tried the Federal Fusion ammo in .223 and .30-06 and it is impressive for its accuracy at such a low price for a bonded soft point. About the best kept secret (until you blabbed it!) in factory hunting ammo.

Are all the 7.62x39 rifles and pistols the same .311" bore, or are some actually .308 like the Mini-Thirty? Particularly interested in the Ruger American and the PSA upper for AR-15.

Can't speak about the PSA upper but my pistol upper is the .310 bore and so are the Ruger Americans. Don't let that deter you from getting one because my carbine has a .310 bore and it shoots .308 bullets very well and so do many other people's.

Yes Tula and an online retailer has a supposed contract to have "genuine" 8m3 made BUT internet rumors are that's it's still hit or miss on whether it's actually 8m3 projectile or not.

The 8M3 I have it's the real deal and if the lgs I got it from had more I'd go buy it all.

Any truth to the rumor that is the projectile in Wolf's Military Classic JHP?

That very well may be, but I always measure bullet diameter with calipers and pass on any .308 in favor of .310 for use in my .310-bore CZ 527 Carbine. The .308" X 39 ammo that I have wound up with I simply sell (practically give it away, that is) to a friend with an AK who says it will eat anything.

That said, it's been quite awhile! since I've taken it out to shoot. I'll need to rectify this oversight immediately. :D I've been ridin' the ree-volver caliber lee-ver car-been train lately.

My son and I both have Ruger American Ranch rifles and they are great. They are light, accurate, and fun to shoot. We shoot them more than our AR's. I really enjoy shooting this round.

They are under current ATF rules considered a brace and not a stock. Therefore they are a pistol, any modification to said brace will create a NFA item. So no modifications here
