Having not bought a carry gun since the Shield was new on the market, I'm thinking about getting one smaller and more concealable (pocket gun size) than the shield (small belt gun). I know there are a few out there but the only ones I know of have that long DA pull which I dislike. Looking for a pistol with a trigger like a Shield. Any new offerings out there that meet this criteria?

Love my Shield but in light of recent news, I'm thinking of a smaller, deeper concealment pistol for certain situations when a belt gun won't do.

Recent news makes me think about carrying bigger guns and more ammo.

Take a look at a Ruger LC9s. Very slim and a good trigger.

Thinking pocket gun you could take to church without wearing a jacket. Shield works great for anytime you have a cover garment but isn't as invisible as my P3AT, which I would take everywhere if it had a better trigger and was in 9mm.

On topic of my P3AT, I'm not all that fond of the long DA pull, I assumed the LC9 was similar to the LCP (P3AT copy-ish) Am I wrong?

I like a Sig P938 for that purpose. Controls are like a 1911 (except no grip safety) and it's single action. Surprisingly accurate for such a little thing.

I love SIGs. My wife has a P238 and I've shot it quite a bit. Great baby 1911 gun. I'll look into the P938 but I'm not too keen on a slide safety on a carry gun. Just personal preference.

it was but then they dropped the lc9s that's a striker now

I haven't handled an LCP.
The LC9s trigger is a vast improvement over the original LC9.

Personally I like the long smooth DA trigger on my CM9. It's a lot like the DA trigger on a couple of my other concealed carry revolvers; a S&W Model 638 and a Model 649. Two guns that have already been mentioned, the Ruger LC9s and the SIG P938, would also make for great 9mm. pocket autos.

I carry a PF9 daily daily, it's had some issues in the past (fixed), decent 7 yard accuracy and disappears in my waistband.

For pocket carry I have the CM9 and it pushes the boundary of pocket carry for me (6' tall & large). While its trigger is smooth, it's nothing like the Shield. Try before you buy.

I have a Sig P238, not the P938, but it's single action trigger is great. The P938 is about 1/2" longer than the CM9 so it would be just a little too long for pocket carry for me.

The smallest 9mm I've owned is the Daimondback DB9, but I can not recommend it due to reliability and durability issues.

Good luck in your search.

Like RedlegRick, I carry the PF9, but I do prefer hammer-fireds with a DA/SA, DAO, or hybrid (like the PF9) action.

If I liked striker-fireds, I'd definitely look at the Ruger. In fact, I like the original hammer-fired one, but they had not yet hit the market when I got my Kel-Tec, and I've had no issues with my choice.

LC9s for the regular-sized pocket. LCP for the blue jeans pocket. Carry in a sticky holster.

I had hoped for an XDs to be the right answer. Too big and square. A fine holster gun, though.

^^Simply a holster with an exterior surface so tacky that no belt clip is required to keep it snug in a waistband or in place between the waistband and belt when the belt is tightened. Also difficult to remove from a pocket compared to a normal pocket-holster.

I've tried them at gun shows, and they really seem to work, but I haven't bought one (yet.)

While you can certainly find micro-nine's smaller than the Shield, I still don't consider any of them a pocket guns. My P938 doesn't fit well in most of my pockets, and even when it does it's a lot harder to draw from a pocket than my LCP or j-frame.

So if you insist on 9mm, I'd recommend an LCR in 9mm. Otherwise I think a .380 is better, or a j-frame revolver.
