A300 vs 1301

Let's try this again. I recently started a discussion comparing the 590A1 to the A300 Ultima Patrol for an upcoming Gunsite shotgun course.

So, yeah, I'm definitely going to go with an autoloader. The A300 is just fine for my needs, and the 1301 is over kill. However. Because the A300, like most atoloading shotguns puts the recoil mechanism in the stock, you can't really change stocks. Now, I don't care about a traditional curved pistol grip vs an AR style pistol grip, but...the A300 only has a traditional hunting style sling mount on the bottom of the stock, which means it won't work well with a modern tactical 2 point sling. (Kinda like putting said sling on an old school AR15A2.)

So my next point of contention is thus: is worth the extra $700 (plus the cost of an aftermarket stock) to address that issue?

Can't answer that too well. Depends. When I really want something I get by, by sayings "its the cost of doing business" and other times it is "good enough is good enough. With the 1301 being overkill for your use case, $700 plus might be hard to part with. There are some sling options in the aftermarket for the A300. Not sure they are what your looking to get. Sorry, not much help on this one.

I'd just get a QD socket or two; some flathead self-tapping-wood-screws, and screw those sockets onto the stock anywhere you'd want them (bottom, left-side, right-side).
The socket kit seem to come with flathead machine screws, which won't bite into the polymer or wood as well as self-tapping screws. The screws will need to be flathead style, however, to allow enough room for the QD male end to be inserted.

I think Amazon has some parts/kits, too:

Answer to your question as noted above is no, nowhere near $700 in value. Options are to pick up a used 1301, modify A300 buttstock as suggested above, or obtain a different buttstock that will meet your needs. Midwest Gun Works has a few options, and I suspect other aftermarket options will come along as the gun becomes more widespread.

I can find replacement stocks for around $100 ish, but they're direct replacements with the sling swivel on the bottom. Good to know its cheap to replace the stock if I damage it while jury rigging something in place.

Nope. I shared the same concern before I bought my A300. In actual use, it has been non-consequential.

I heard the A300 is single action bar vs the dual bar on the 1301. I love my 1301 however I bought it like 2 years ago. Now the price seems to have increased by like $300 or more.
