Ammo selling out fast

While I may have 'more than sufficient' quantities of factory loads and 'way more than that' in components, I'm faced with a slightly different dilemma,,
I have a Membership at a Local Outdoor Range here in Houston.

Heard tonight on NPR that Houston has closed all Bars and Nightclubs. Restaurants could remain open if they sold carry-out, but no 'Dining In' allowed.
I understand that exposure should be avoided. I'm just hoping that my Local Range can stay open w/o being shut down by the City due to it being categorized as an unnecessary risk of exposure.
:(

I was keeping an eye on ammo and it was still in stock for the most part on Friday. This AM from Sportsmans guid to lucky gunner and SG ammo its mostly sold out. Gone. Some of the 20 round boxes that are the most expensive they have a bit left. Prices have also spiked. So glad I put it back years ago. Next will be mags and rifles
Thats the reason I reload for every caliber I own, except .22. Lots of powder, primers and supplies in general. Not hoarded, I shoot that much and always have larger stocks on hand as well as finished ammo.

You can see where my priorities are. I’ve stayed in the stock market, but a few months ago got into reloading by buying a 1050 and I have now more than enough supplies to reload for a year and I shoot 400 rounds a week.

And this panic won’t last anywhere near that long.

Someone might have posted this already but SGammo is not taking orders at this time. :what:

I regularly check their stock and before the Wuhan virus crisis they had A LOT of ammo.
It’s amazing they were wiped out in a little over a weekend.

I had no idea this was happening, but should have predicted it. Is this shaping up to be worse than the last run on ammo?

At last count I had enough combined ammo to give every person in my city a round. Counting brass and supplies, I could reload enough to keep myself supplied for a solid 3-4 months beyond that. I had intended to resupply myself this week but had no prior knowledge of any ammo related panic buying.

I may have inadvertently contributed to the madness at my local Costco by purchasing 3 large bags of Doritos but in my defense, they were on sale and I have 6 kids.

Well, if you go back and re read the posts in 2018 and 19, they said that then was the time to buy. I thought the election would be the tipping point on another panic, seems like it was a bit shorter. Glad I got what I needed during the golden age late teens.

I was reading an article on thegunfeed earlier and it said that so many people were buying guns and ammo in Calofornia the computer went down. No ammo sales, and guns have a 10 day waiting period.

Ignorant is excusable because they are so new, they don’t know any better. Stupid people continue the same behavior since 1994-today and always just a bit behind the wave.

I have been ther and done that enough times, I don’t mind people poking fun at it.

Pulled some money to build a shop but that’s on hold, hopefully enough folks panic to push the market below 15,000, then I’ll wait until the end of the year and build it for half the cost.

Do you have enough room left over for 900 rolls of toilet paper?

It’s a stupid thing to collect (but it happens at the farm because everyone brings what they think we may need. I could buy hundreds of thousands of rolls of TP if I wanted to, but to what end?

It seems ludicrous to me, when I have all I need. Then again I used cloth diapers last time I needed them.

No--- No anxiety is apparent here, in "LA"/ Lower Alabama.

I vistied a fair-sized pawn/gun shop with many varieties of 'chamberings', then went to a true gun shop north of I-10. Tons of it, with only two other customers in the store.

Next, went to Three Brothers' gun club, near Fairhope AL. Nobody was looking at ammo there, or in the other locations.

It's all 'about' toilet paper, bread and which public events are cancelled.
Almost nobody is buying ammo or guns here. And ammo prices are quite normal.

We always have a couple dozen rolls.... yes, a couple dozen.
That's ridiculous. Obviously we need some common sense toilet paper control. No one needs a couple dozen rolls of toilet paper!

And 1000 sheets per roll is way too many. There ought to be a reasonable limit. And it must be locked up and inaccessible until time of need. THINK OF THE CHILDREN

The Gov of PA has closed all non essential concerns. That closes all gun stores.

Yesterday while I was at the Pawn & Gun Shop there was a lady buying a gun. She was telling the sales clerk that she had a friend that works for the city of Denham Springs, the city I live in, that they were going to declare martial law at midnight and that the city would be on lockdown. I asked her if she had enough toilet paper. ;)

I didn't buy ammo over the last 10 years. I purchased components. Could use some shotgun ammo, but that's about all. As for beer, I can make my own.

Stopped by the local gun dealer yesterday to pick up my new Henry 22 Pump (nice looking rifle) and he has plenty of ammo of all types.

People's incomes might soon be cut...but they waited until Now to finally buy an ammo reserve....

....or are they only wanting to Resell, and profit from other people?

I've been buying guns, ammo and reloading supplies all of 2019 and I had no intentions of profiting from those purchases in any way. But I do have one gun that I just don't like so I might sell it in the next few months and it won't be going at a good guy price. :)

Ok, from a few days ago...

"Wiping away your fears." Excellent. :D

This is mostly a distribution problem, not a supply problem. Just like the stuff at the grocery..

I agree but some are preparing (late and panicked) as if we will get hit like Italy has. We shouldn't get clobbered that bad but if we do, supply will be a problem. Of coarse almost every THR member is 1000 times more prepared than the average American.
