I have bought ammo from Ammoman for about 8 years. I primarily use Aim Surplus and Ammoman for my ammo purchases. Aim doesn't have free shipping, and Ammoman's shipping is free. I make my decision on who to order from from depending on who has the ammo in stock that I need and who has the cheaper price after shipping.

I've probably bought about 12,000 rounds of ammo from Ammoman and he has always delivered it exactly as described, pretty much immediately. I find that on most domestic handgun ammo and Wolf rifle ammo, his prices cannot be beat. I usually buy from AIM when I need a lot of surplus rifle ammo.

The only one who really beats him sometimes is when Century has a really crazy sale on ammo. If you have an FFL, ammo shipping from Century is $13, flat rate, no matter how much. I once got 3,200 rounds of 8mm from Century for about $115 about 6 years ago (about 3 cents per round).

I don't know what to say about their attitude over on arf.com. I've never been a member there due to their reckless and fairly combative style. If Eric screwed one person over (if it is even true), then shame on him. But I know many more people who have used Ammoman and gotten exactly what they ordered, with pretty much impeccable service. So it doesn't seem totally justified to me to crucify him, especially on such a wild story by one person. Some of his ammo does appear to be overpriced to me, but I don't buy it. I just shop from the 75% of his ammo that does have an excellent price.

If you know more about the situation than I do, that's all good since I don't know the truth of the matter.

I draw the line on people who are fine with buying from someone who they believe probably did rip people off, because they'll save a few bucks. I don’t need ammo so bad that I have to do business with scammer.

Maybe ammo man did not do anything wrong, but why then are there so many stories, and so many people down on him? There are lots of ammo dealers out there, but only one with his reputation. The only gun dealer with a similar rep would be Vulcan.

I don’t know what AIM or J&G or the many other ammo dealers are doing different than ammoman, but clearly there is a difference.

With respect, I differ with your position. I don't ever let others and their words make up my mind for me. Especially when others show no evidence proving their point. I want to see the proof for myself so I can evaluate.

I've been dealing with Eric for years and never heard of this (granted, I'm not an arf.com kind of guy and I don't hang out there). To the contrary, Eric has shown me by his actions in my repeated dealings with him to be a stand-up guy.

Hmmm... that stuff is just commercially reloaded ammo... any one know a source besides ammoman for the real deal?
Heh. Unless Doc Brown and Marty McFly roll up on a DeLorean someday you're out of luck. Even the stuff Ammoman has is commercial ammo. I suppose you could find an offshore supplier but anything of US origin is going to be commercial.

Somewhere back in the Clinton days an order was issued that all military surplus ammo must be sold as components, not as assembled rounds. So, production over runs are ripped apart and put back together. What benefit this is to anybody is beyond my comprehension, but that's the way the game is played.

Giga,

I don't think production over runs that have not been accepted by the government have to be pulled and then reassembled. I think they can be sold as is.

Also, ammo that is rejected by the government (ie, the stuff that ends up labeled "for training purposes only") does not have to be reassembled before being sold commercially.
