But seriously, it seems like most of the best names for the product have come up. I'm reduced to making up silly names anymore, just for the sake of humor.
I remember that I was sitting here staring at the rounds and wondering what in heck we can call these things.
It would also be right to have sub names for each of the three types.
I think it would be prudent to have some serious ballistic tests also to help anticipate problems.

Was pretty much tha idea of sending out tha first version as far and wide as possible, for feedback.
No trouble here in testing in OUR guns, but everyone i have and DEFINATELY his are tuned and timed and aligned to perfection.
Gettin these tested around in run of tha mill guns was tha point and i hope yall give me feedback!
SECOND design with a wider ring and some subtle changes has been one holers at twenty five from my ransom rest, and Krautman gave me a drum of kind&knox ordnance gelatin for testing, in uncalibrated but correct 10% mix at 38 degrees block temperature, tha hollow points through animal hide or bare gel turn themselves inside out at velocites down to 750fps AND fly right (As well as tha target version)
BUT tha fly in tha ointment is always that RUN OF THA MILL gun. Also wanna hear any ideas or notions anyone has, i aint no genius so ifin ya got a better idea, tell me P.M. and ifin it works, i'll see ya get somethin for it!!

"Snail" seems to be a weird thing to call that. But, Humans seem to come up with really weird things to call their junk.
Anyway, it's sounding like these bullets expand too much for antipersonnel use. At 750 fps, the 80 gr .36 cal bullet will already underpenetrate slightly, if it doesn't expand. At 1100 fps, which seems to be about the highest velocity one can get from a Navy, the bullet could expand to .42" and still penetrate good. I don't think it's physically possible to get a bullet to expand that small an amount. Blowing up to .6 or so results in penetration of under 7". Just about right for a rabbit sized animal, but nothing bigger.
The 130 gr one may work better, but at 1000 fps, the biggest expansion you can get and still penetrate the bare minimum, is .56". About on par with a modern 9mm.
For defense, you want bullets that'd be adequate for taking a deer. besides, 36 years is a long time to hold a memory about a phrase.
The reports from the acw state that the balls, made of soft lead, would expand upon impact with bone to "silver dollar" size, probably an exaggeration somewhat, but it is that flattening that accounted for the many losses of limb during that war.
I don't know how these would act when striking bone, but should be similar. I'm not sure that we always need to have super high velocities for these guns and rounds to do their work.

Would'nt use a .36 on deer, and i respectfully state that 12.0" penetration is hokum on people, but believe as you wish.
The .45 is minimum i WOULD use and you get all yer magic penetration with that jus fine.
.36 on small game, vermin and such should be quite a dropper, remember please that ballistic coeffciant aint really high, ya loses velocity REAL fast, 50 yards its got enough ta open a little ta anchor somethin.

MY bad, i did'nt listen right tha other day, tha price i mentioned is what he has INTO tha dies and that gone up causa tha specialty steel for the die and punches (Ya gets both solid AND hollow point).

I have no name suggestions but a couple of questions.
1) Is this just the start of the business and if so, what more could be added. Make sure that any names can encompass the future products and developement.
2) Whatever you choose it needs to be crisp, short and to the point. In the UK most people call a vacuum cleaner a HOOVER or a condom (rubber) a DUREX because these are the manufactures who are most associated with these products.

Since these neat new conicals will replace round balls, and they'll be a ball to shoot. How about...
