Anybody going to Tulsa Wanenmachers show?

The only year, in the last 11, I have missed the April show was in 1999, the year my daughter got married. I was soooo poor I couldn't buy a box of 22 LR. I had to pay for a wedding.
I never go to the October show because it is hunting season.
Yes, I will be there. I will be heading out around noon on Friday. I have friends who are going up Thursday morning. I did that last year.
Be sure to make your room reservations early. The hotels, in Tulsa, usually fill up.

Thinking about it.

Spring Break for me. I may have to go to Waco, then Houston. Then again I may have to head to TN. Then there was that invite in PA.

Things may blow up and I not get to go anywhere.

I am going to try and make it at least one of the two days. Thankfully I live here so I don't have to worry about a room or gas money to get there. If anyone coming to Tulsa for the first time and needs directions or suggestions for a place to eat just send a PM and I would be happy to try and help.

I hope to meet some Highroaders there. Our hotel is already booked, if Steve comes up there should be room for him as well. Anyway, I hear his salsa stash is gone! We could trade salsa for empty jars. ;)

Should be fun...

I do believe that I am going on saturday. Going to bring the new wife to the show, hoping to gently break her into gun shows with the biggest around...:D

Bump. :)

90% sure I will be in attendence.

Finishing up assignments, and last minute details. I may just leave "real early" Sat a.m. . Traffic and construction all along my route anyway, so "night travel" may be best.

I'll be the guy looking for a restroom , another cup of coffee and the do-nuts . :p

Lunchtime I'll be looking for BBQ and Fried Apple pies.

Later I'll be the guy being chased by Sandy because "I'm" at fault for Larry buying a 28 ga reloader. :D

Not sure about Sat night. I may just head back.

As it looks right now I should be there. I will be working in the National Guard recruiting booth. I have not been told for sure I am but I did sign up to work. Easy way to get a couple of days of pay from the Guard and get to go to the show for free. :neener: I will post later if I am working. It would be nice to meet some of you face to face.

Any HRs want to meet for lunch or what not? I have never been to this show before, and I probably will need a soda to rehydrate (drooling too much :D )

Lunch would be great. Any locals know someplace close? Last time I just had a chili dog at the show, but some decent food would be great.

Note to the first-timers: Bring good shoes! Last time my brother and I walked for ten hours straight.

I know from my experience at "market" - good shoes are a must.

Speaking of Lunch ... I am bringing Larry a "special tool" to punch out the pins in the receiver of a 870. Works really well for the 870 in 28 ga btw. :p

I hope like hell Larry appreciates all my trouble, I had to eat the corn on the cob from Pop-Eyes Chicken to " make " this "special tool". :D

I will "try" to behave. There is some truth to " I can't take me anywhere".

I wonder if I need to see if any LEOs or Lawyer types from THR are going to be handy. You think I am a character now being sober - should have been around when I drank. I was not the only one that lost a Bonanza 6 passenger Jet at the airport in OK that night...

If I get lost, look for me around Shotguns, Old Colt Gov't Models, K frames,Case Knives or where the puppies are. If I walk into any doors because of the 'scenery' - just ignore me.

My wife and I will be there. The wife isn't really that interested in going (it is a ZOO), she just wants to make sure I don't empty the bank account. :D

There is all kinds of good food within a few minutes drive of the fairgrounds. It will just depend on what type of food you are looking for. We are for the most part a friendly bunch here in Tulsa so if you have any questions while you are visiting just ask.

If any of you guys go past the Tulsa Red Castle Gun Club booth give them my best.We were members but had to move to Kansas bout 5 years ago.We used to work with Joe Wannemacher on the FNRA committee back then too.It is still the best show anywhere.Wish I could get down to it sometime....dang I miss Oklahoma :(

We are leaving Pueblo between 4:00 and 6:00 a.m. on Friday, should get in to Tulsa by 5:00 at the latest. Hope to meet sm and shop for 28 ga shotguns or reloaders on Saturday.

If anybody wants to meet up, suggest a time and place. Maybe at wmenorr67's National Guard recruiting booth?

My cell phone no. is 719-569-0874, I will have it with me all weekend.

I'm going to leave in the wee hours of Sat morning, and meet at Larry's hotel. Should only take me 4 hrs, however, with some construction going on here in State, I'm going to figure in a bit more time. Knowing me - I'll be early.

I don't have a cellphone, and am not going to bring my laptop. <THR Forum Cheers are raised and glasses toasted :p > I'll have Larry's cellphone # in the event something comes up.

Larry and a few others have my email , I'll check back here in this thread and and my PM box b/t now and then.

Steve

Found out yesterday afternoon that the recruiters are either not having a booth or not needing anyone to assist with the operation of it. So as it stands right now I will not be able to make it. Have fun and post here if anyone gets any good deals.

I'll be there and would love to meet up with everyone. How do we want to do the meet? This is my first time at the show but I'll be with a "local" so he might know some foos places.

Also do I need to bring copies of my C&R or the original for any good C&R deals I might run into?

Larry has left already. I won't leave until about 2am Sat morning, and will go to Larry's hotel. We will arrive together, along with some other folks at the Fairgrounds

I'll be the 6' lanky fella wearing glasses in jeans, tennis shoes, dark blond hair and moustache, ...a bit shorter than usual...stealth mode. :p Lot of help I know..only person that knows what I look like is Preacherman

I'll suggest we meet at 9:00 am wherever the concession is...coffee. For sure we will be looking at shotguns. I'll be the guy handing Larry shotguns to look at. Seriously, we are going to check out 28 ga shotguns. I'll be in my element. :D

You have read my posts, this is how I talk...Southern. If there happens to be Fried Pies...I'll be there too. :p

I'll also be checking out 1911s, [ especially old parts] Old Smiths, Detective Spls, Books, and holsters.

We are planning on leaving Norman around 7am. That should put us at the show around 9. I'll give Larry a call and figure out somewhere to meet up once we are there. The concession sounds good to me but I'm betting there is more than 1?

I have a long list of things I'm looking for if the deal presents itself.; mainly rifles and pistols though.
