Anyone else buying off EBay ?

Absolutely not. Never. I don't buy (or sell) anything on ebay anymore. Been there, done that; I've been burned enough times.
The ebay of today is nothing like the ebay of years ago. Much of it comes down to their "money back guarantee". There are actually more protections for buyers on ebay now than for sellers. I just bought a NIB Bushnell range finder. New production as per Bushnell's website and for $40 less than anywhere else on the internet, including the sale price at Cabela's and it was shipped for free. Do your homework tho, check the seller's rating and what else they offer.

I ordered one of these a couple of days ago. I could clip the factory spring a bit to lighten the trigger, but this one looks like it will get me to just under 2 pounds without trial and error with the stock spring.

My stock spring couldn't be adjusted under 3 pounds.

Its true, 99% of the time they will side with the buyer if there is a problem or dispute. I was a Power Seller there for several years and their anti-seller attitude is one reason I stopped. The other reason is they lowered the IRS reporting threshold to ridiculously low standards and demanded more personal and bank info.

As a buyer, though, you are usually pretty well protected on Ebay.

I buy from Ebay frequently. I have a RCBS 1010 scale and an Ohaus 10-10 scale that are very nice that I got from Ebay. Several Starrett micrometers and a 6" Starrett caliper I got from EBay for good prices. And yes, there is the danger of counterfeit.

That would one of my many concerns. See my original post.
...as I said in my first post. Ebay now offers a money back guarantee, and that covers items that are misrepresented, this even when the seller says "no returns". Again, research the seller and their feedback history, paying close attention to the negative reviews.

I'm not saying there are no scammers, just that it is much harder for them to continue to sell on ebay, if they are. If they have a good history of positive reviews, odds are they are as legit as anywhere else.

To me Ebay is no different than Gunbroker. I like buying from both. Know what you are looking for going in, know your prices, and pay super close attention to the photos and descriptions. If any doubt at all you can PM the sellers. There are rascals on both but that is rare. Sometimes, especially on EBay, the seller is in experienced on what they are selling and make honest mistakes. Buyer beware.

I buy parts and doo dads I'm looking for. I find it more convenient than driving around and wasting $20 of gas just to not find the item. There isn't anything I can't wait a couple of days to get.

Evidently you must have unlimited gun shops to browse in your area. Where exactly do you shop? So those of us not as experienced know where to go.
Local gun shops. Sportsman's Warehouse. Cabela's. Face to face with known people, known entities. Handle and inspect your firearms prior to purchase. A distant second would be gun shows, which I haven't attended in many years. I basically just got tired of the BS. The best deals/cheapest guns I've bought in the past ten years were all at Sportsman's Warehouse. The LGS and the gun shows weren't doing any better than them.

There are gun stores here, decent ones actually, but they seem to go more for "trendy" guns than ones I'm interested in. They can and do order anything I want, but used guns are almost never priced sanely, or are bubba'ed up messes, so GB for guns, and anyplace I can find a part is for parts, Ebay included. Almost all the spare Sig parts I have came from Ebay.
