Is anyone else addicted

I used to buy by the case. I think I have graduated to buying by the pallet.
I just bought a pallet of 5.45x39 and am working on an pallet of 7.62x54.

It's not an addiction, it's smart shopping, prices are only going to go up, not down.

Last gun show, my buddy bought

5040rds .308 SA Surplus - all the guy had.
2000rds 7.62x39 wolf
4000rds 5.56 georgia arms
1000rds 9mm
box of .45
box of .38
box of .44mag

If I hadn't just bought a house, I'd have been fighting him over that SA surplus.

Living in bush Alaska all these years has taught me to become a hoarder. You never know how long you'll be stuck out in the bush before you can come back in for a supply run.
Everytime I go to Los Anchorage or Fairbanks, I drag back as much ammo as I can afford and stuff into my bags.

Being winter and all (can't get to the range through the snow drifts) I tend to buy something every week . As soon as the range is clear enough to shoot I will do what I always do . i buy twice the amount I plan on shooting ( tend to shoot every week , sometimes 2-3 times) . I stash away half and shoot the other half . My goal? 100000 rounds not including .22 . Of course , once my goal is met I'll just make a new one , like 200000 ;) I'd like to have enough ammo that , if all of a sudden there was no more to buy , I would have enough to shoot for the rest of my time on this planet .

I’m addicted and got it bad!

Ordered a new .308 in January and bought reloading equipment.

Since January I have slowly collected:
5k of .223
3k of 5.7x28
5k in components for building .308, another 2k for reload

My addiction is fueled by the fear that if they can not get the ban on the guns then they will go after the ammo next. Also the cost of metals keeps climbing. I’m leaving the components in their original packaging and boxes, so that I can trade or resale later if necessary. Yes, I’ll be buying more in the future – after I buy a larger safe to hold it all, everything is in the safe except the Dillon.

Be safe, BSR

Is it raining?

I guess I'll be the one to rain on the parade...

1) I think a different choice of analogies could have been chosen other than the "addiction to crack" one used. That looks real good to some of those surfing the gun forums with less than honorable intentions in mind. It may have a cool ring to it to the OP but it certainly doesn't reflect that well at all on the rest of the shooting fraternity. You really have to stop and think once in a while about "who else" is reading the posts. :scrutiny:

2) To catch to the OP up to speed on things a bit (novice?), unless you're talking handloading, (and you're not) you've been buying "ammo", not bullets. (As in complete cartridge and not simply a component there of.) ;)

3) A lot of us feel the more ammo the better. :)

OK, the sun can come back out again anytime now. :p
