Appropriate response to children attacking man in DC Metro

My very humble opinion...

I would have called 911 immediately and watched closely if another person would have been hassled. Also a good idea to stay on the line with PD for updates.
If I am attacked all bets are off.There is little to guide a citizen in such matters. You aren't expected to know or use an "escalation of force" scenario and you simply need to do what needs to be done to protect yourself and your family. Just because kids are "kids" doesn't mean that they don't have a gun/ knife/ evil intent.

ok, as a person who commutes on this metro system every day, I honestly don't think "what would you do?" is the right question to ask. If some punk kid is trying to take me, i will defend myself. I don't care if your 17 or 27. It's simply not the point. The point is that vids like this pop up every week and what I always see is a bunch of d@mn commuter zombies just walking by and not doing anything. That metro station is filled with hundreds of ppl at any given hour, how many saw what was going on and did nothing? No one called authorities, no one alerted the station manager, no one did anything. I am so sick of the attitude of people in DC.

Sorry for the rant, but being a transplant from Charleston, SC the lack of accountability and compassion I see on a daily basis here just shocks me!
