Although I'm REALLY sure a concealed carry holder couldn't do anything about THAT.

Live witness reports have said visibility was not an issue. Witness reports also said the shooter was targeting people that were trying to run out. The witnesses that did get out said they ran during reloads.
I'm a Colorado resident not too far from the incident and have been watching the live news unfold all day (it is my day off after all)
I've been sick about this all day. There have been a few reports of people getting between the shooter and children.... True heroes in that stressful situation.
There were videos of crowds running through the lobby. They were from the 2 other theaters showing a midnight premier.
The police headquarters is 90 seconds away. The shooter booby trapped his apartment with incindiary devices and load music. It was supposed to blow up if the police forced entry after the neighbors called with noise complaints. It should have diverted police medic and fire resources while he was on his rampage.
It was also reported that he was an honor student from UCRiverside with a PHD.

The whole thing has made me feel sick all day. I intend on making my interview appointment with the sheriff for my CCW permit on monday

You know, I see these news reports about shootings, and robberies and stuff, and most of the time, I can't help but think that if I were there, I could have done something.

I'm pretty sure that these events start many more times then we know because an armed citizen stops the attack before it turns worse. Those never get publicized because that hurts the gun grabber's arguments.

I cant help but think if people had time to run out during reloads that someone might have been able to tackle him down then. I guess the flight response overwhelmed the fight one. Such a tragedy I hate it for the families.

One of the things that freaks me out is that I'm not sure what I could have done had I been there with a concealed firearm. When the first thing he does is lob OC or teargas into the theater, then comes into the dark theater dressed in black and a gas mask, I'm not sure I would have been able to see well enough to do anything but draw attention to myself and get shot.

Following the logic of blaming the inanimate object rather than the free moral agent isn't this justification to outlaw wires?

It's meant as a tongue in cheek question obviously, but isn't that the logical conclusion? That everyone who buys a roll of wire in Home Depot is a suspect for bomb making?

We're drifting away from the original subject. No problem, really, but we might as well sit back for a while and watch. The important thing, IMO, is to keep an eye out of proposed legislation or ordinance and then spread the word if any is observed.
