Hi all:

I found myself today at the confluence of two powerful currents in my life: my fanboi-ish affection for CZ firearms, and my quest for high-quality, low-budget firearms. CZs of any calling typically possess a high performance-to-dollar ratio, but some of their polymer offerings are just darn cheap and wicked freakin’ good.

So today, while offering to volunteer at this Saturday’s soiree at my LGS, the owner showed me a P-10F. I had heard great things about these and the list price was surprisingly low. “I’ll throw in a free store sweatshirt and knock $50 off of it for ya.” Now, my daughter loves Champion sweatshirts and she thinks anything with “Guns and Ammo” emblazoned on it is just the height of cool, so there you go - a gifting opportunity. And $50 off an already low-priced handgun was much more than I could resist. So, for a little bit more than four bills, this came home with me:

It feels great, like all CZs do in my hands. It appears to be superbly well built, inside and out. The cold hammer forged barrel is Hell-for-stout and you can tell innits weight - about six oz more than a Glock 17. The grip texturing is more aggressive than on my new P-09, which I like very much. The steel three dot sights are tall and present a good sight picture (I may still change them out for Dawson Precision; I kind of prefer a fiber optic front and blacked out rear vs. three white dots).

19 round mags are welcome and they look like they’ll work in my P-09 too?

The trigger is really, really good. Smooth takeup followed by the wall and a tidy 4.4 lb break with a teeny bit of creep. I suspect this will go away with shooting but I may accelerate that process with some jeweler’s rouge and a polishing wheel on the ol’ Dremel. I’ll shoot it first, though. It might not be the equal of my PDP’s trigger but it’s close. It’s better than the HK VP9 and S&W M&P, and I also prefer it to the SIG 320/M17.

Sorry, no range report yet but I’ll get there on Monday and follow up with action shots. It’s optics ready and I may throw a dot on there, not sure. I have a spare FDE Leupold Deltapoint Pro I can probably find a plate for easily enough. So there it is - a “bargain” gun that punches well above its weight class in a crowded marketplace and lots of excellent choices. That makes it pretty unbeatable, in my book. What do you all think?

Thanks!

Am a big CZ fan, but the P10, I just can't get interested in.
I'd wager the P10 prices have dropped due to CZ stating a gen2 version coming Q2.

And yes, the P10 and P07/09 share the same mags. And if you want nice, get yourself hand-built from scratch A01 from CZ custom which also shares the mags.

Hi Chevelle:

Roger that - that’s the thing about how personal gun choices are. Either they speak to you, or they don’t :). Now, in keeping with my high value/low budget theme for this thread, I have to reject the AO1, sadly. Good point on the price drop if the 2nd gen is on its way. And thanks for the info on the magazines!

I kind of want one in .45, but I bought a S&W M&P 2.0 and am pleased with it. If I come across one I'll buy it, but I'm not hunting one down. It seems a come down from my 97b being polymer and all, since the rest of my CZ's with the P-09 exception are all metal. IMG_3453.JPG IMG_3403.JPG IMG_1185.JPG

I had one.

But someone else who had bigger hands than mine REALLY wanted it. That grip was just a wee bity long for me and Da Boy, for some reason. The C and S are perfect for us. Nothing wrong with the gun at all, worked perfectly.

Right? The performance per dollar is astounding. I’ve looked at some Caniks and no doubt they’re good, but for the same (or less!) money, why not get a CZ? I have a CGW striker and striker spring coming for my P-10; I’d rather have a tool steel striker and the 4.4 lb spring might decrease the trigger pull a bit. Ideally I’d like to take about .5-1 lb off the trigger and eliminate the (minuscule) creep. It’s absolutely fine as-is but I’ll love it even more if it’s a skosh lighter.

KY Gun Co had the P10c for $317. I occasionally carry a P07 so I looked at it as if I was getting $100 in magazines and a spare gun for $217.

Mag compatibility only goes one way: older P07 mags won’t work in the newer striker fired guns because the cuts are in different locations.

Elkins, that is astonishing. That’s practically Hi-Point money for a CZ. I really hope people don’t take the low price point to mean that the gun’s cheap. It’s a combat-worthy sidearm in every respect and, IMO, better than virtually all other polymer strikers out there. Thanks for the head’s up on the mags.

The lady at the checkout counter said they had sold 17 of them the day I picked mine up, and this was hours before closing time. There was at least one other person buying one in the same line with me.

It shoots great, by the way.

I am not surprised. I’d have been inclined to buy at least two at that price. I’ve lubed and dry fired mine (with the weird little snap cap that comes with the gun, Lol) about 500 times and it’s already smoothing out a bit. I’ll probably do a bit of polishing of the contact points when the CGW striker and spring arrive.

Way better stuff than CZ custom out there. I follow honest outlaw on YouTube enough, they’ve had their share of trouble with CZ custom products.

Hmm, I personally know some of the guys at CZ Custom, have handled their products, and really don't remember anyone remarking about huge issues on my forum. Looking through the last year on their subforum, I found one complaint about an over bored barrel, and that's back to Jan 2023. I don't know Honest Outlaw, sorry.
