I like the look of the new Browning AB3. I like new stuff. It would, of course, be chambered in .270 Winchester to fit with it's safe buddies. All right, the caliber is not so new... :D The rifle is not too expensive either.

My Brother in Laws Beanfield Rifle is a Jarret in 280 AI. Nice gun and plenty accurate. I shoot the same fields with a 18" Ruger 30-06. The deer never seemed to notice.

BTW - While my BIL does have a farm with Beanfield distances (600-800 yards if desired), he says I'm the only one whose shot longer than 100 yards; and that only at targets. While the "Beanfield" concept is fun to dream and talk about, the stands at several properties he hunts are all set for 30-200 yard shots.

I can say by way of experience that taking a deer at 300+ yards in a big standing soy bean field is way easier than finding it after it goes down.

You are right about that Hopkins. I have shot alot of deer in the bean fields with a trusty 30-06 as a younger fellow. I now hunt with a 6.5CM. Its alot easier to handle and shoots very accurate. I came up with a system to find the deer. You have to line your stand with a tree in the background and then guess your range. It works, but I have almost tripped over them in tall beans.
