Another load of feckless false rhetoric and the clear demonstration of the limitation on what POTUS has the actual power to do.

Biden is asking the Justice Department (DOJ) to propose within a month a rule to stop "ghost guns," which are "kits" people can buy legally to assemble a functioning firearm that does not have a serial number.

Biden is also asking the DOJ to propose within 60 days a rule on braces used for handguns, which make them more accurate;

to propose action on "community violence intervention";

to publish suggestions for "red flag" legislation; and is asking his administration to issue a report on gun trafficking.

IOW, nothing more than issue a brace ruling, suggestions for red flag laws for states to enact since the Fed can't, put out a report on gun trafficking because criminal don't obey the law, and 80% receiver restrictions/ghost gun bad. Oh, and the standard prayer and promise call for laws that have done nothing of value when tried. That's most of what we thought he had the actual authority to do, but far less than we feared he'd try.

The only good thing that isn't a waste of time and taxes is community violence intervention which has repeatedly been shown to work...until government takes over and wrecks the program and abandons it.

So, what do WE do? Fund the organizations like SAF that will be bringing lawsuits to challenge ATF brace decisions, or "kit" rulings, or unfinished receiver rule making. It will be vitally important to fill their reserves for these suits now that we know what this Administration is directing DOJ and ATF to do. We must continue everything we've been advising the past 2o years to oppose legislation that would infringe upon our rights at the local, state, or fed level, get personally involved with your local, state and national 2A organization, support them financially (we've had threads of who to send money to), contact elected officials offices yourself and get your friends to, send emails and snail mail using the formats for messaging that have been discussed (brief, focused, no rants), don't miss the opportunity to support the "other guys" that are "behind the lines" or who aren't hard Antis since everyone we can take away from the Anti2A hardliners the better for our side, organize groups to help reach and teach the millions of first time gun owners to demonstrate that we're not monsters and they're at no risk of becoming the monster the Antis claim we are, put some skin in the game by getting others to at least not be opposed to us and, more, to learn the truth that we are not criminals just waiting to snap instead of being drowned by the lies.

I'm not sure he can regulate something that isn't defined as a firearm in the statute the same way firearms are regulated by executive order. I suggest we all donate to whatever 2A organization files suit. I'm sure whatever order (if any) comes out of this will meet the same fate in the courts that Trump's bump stock ban did.

Didn’t take the Republican National Senate Committee long to start raising money off of it. Just received this text:

I certainly wouldn’t recommend sending any money to a political party. They aren’t going to sue Biden. NRA, SAF, GOA or your state association will get you the biggest bang for your buck, not the Republican Party.

On the brace ruling, the DOJ may not be able to blanket ban it without a law passed since they vary in variety so much. But they will likely ban the pseudo-stock-looking types. I anticipate, like the recent bumpstock ruling that'll be difficult to regulate.

On 80% receivers, the main issue we're gonna face is "what constitutes a firearm" is set by Congress.

Both of these will be tricky to enforce.

Folks,

This is an FYI thread on what POTUS Biden announced today and not a speculative discussion thread on what it might mean. We can endlessly speculate on what his end goal will be on each point, but without a crystal ball we can't know.

If anyone knows of anything else he claimed he was ordering the federal agencies to do in today's press conference then please contribute, but let's leave the discussions of everything other than what was said and signed and action on our part to protect the 2A to that thread in General.

Does anyone have a link to the actual verbage of these EO's?
What he signed today were Executive Actions, not Executive Orders (there's a difference). It usually takes a couple days for the actual official text to be published, so probably Monday. The only text published right now is the text of the remarks by the Pres and the VP:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...-president-harris-on-gun-violence-prevention/

Thanks for the clarification

Biden's "big plan" is to sweep the whole gun issue under the rug

BUT, we can't act as if that's the case since while Biden may not want to expend the political capitol on this there are many who will continue to push the Anti agenda. We have to keep challenging the assumption that "gun control" is a solution.

Remember when Biden told Harris on stage that you cannot use Executive orders to put restrictions on firearms? Then she proceeded to say "Joe instead of saying no we can't, let's just say yes we can" . Then he said something of the affect that we have a Constitution. Well just shows how much of a liar he really is.

Just because for years the ATF ruled 80% to not be firearms, doesn't mean they can't 180 on it. Like bump stocks being called machine guns, or their constant 180 on stabilizing braces. Next thing you know, ATF will say black powder guns are firearms, just to really twist the knife.

.... We have to keep challenging the assumption that "gun control" is a solution.
Also need to keep challenging the fallacies that "gun violence" as an "epidemic" and a "public health crisis" are the problems in need of a "gun control" solution.
