Braced Pistol stamp Watch Thread

Just mail it (digital or hard copy) the pages of your submitted application containing just the pages pertaining to them (marked CLEO). Via snail mail / email / fax . My local Sheriff had no interest in any of it as no action was required by him or his office, unless he knew of something that would disqualify. It's just a notification .

Got the first of three approvals in 30 days. Now have two pending. It has been about 45 days for the other two so far. No idea what the ATF is doing but it has slowed down. I am sure they are swamped.

Where are you guys going to see the status of your application?

I mailed in three and am waiting for them to come back.

....I'll do it but the local PD will probably not be ready to handle it
They should read what is printed on the CLEO copy.

Should I do it as "submitted" or wait until i have notice of approval?
When you submit a paper NFA form or an eForm, you send in the CLEO notice at the same time you submit or mail a copy to ATF.

H. Law Enforcement Notification. The applicant must provide a copy of the Form 1 to the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) who has jurisdiction over the area of the applicant’s address shown in item 3b of the Form 1. In addition, if the applicant is other than an individual, a copy of the Form 5320.23, National Firearms Act (NFA) Responsible Person Questionnaire, for each Responsible Person must be provided to their respective Chief Law Enforcement Officer. The Chief Law Enforcement Officer is considered to be the Chief of Police; the Sheriff; the Head of the State Police; or a State or local district attorney or prosecutor

and......
N. Submission. The Maker shall submit 2 complete forms (ATF copy and registrant copy) with original signatures to the NFA Division at the address on the face of the form. The applicant shall direct a 3rd complete copy of the form to the Chief Local Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) as provided in instruction 2g and item 10

e-forms ... paper submissions require phone contact and waiting on USPS
I found it, there is nothing in the "internal Control Number," or, " finalized date," columns, so I assume they haven't started mine yet.

Got the Ruger Charger PCC 9mm approval Friday,7 April , Still waiting on the LWRC Six-8 10.5" braced pistol approval. I am putting back the Sig 1913 Folding brace I took off the Ruger when the SHTF over these . Now its an SBR I can mount my Surefire 900 vertical grip light on it !! On the Sig brace I am removing the strap and using The Right Stuff black silicone to stick the two halves of the split rubber together and drilling and pinning the rotating brace part . The Sig brace was very well made and the same as the folding Sig SBR stock except for the brace parts , but Sig won't sell the butt piece .

I just received my second approval back - the first one came on April 7 (83 days). This one was submitted the same day and came in at 94 days. Both were done with e-Form 1 using my trust. The only "proof" I included for ownership was a copy of my trust inventory (not notarized) from earlier in the fall showing the two guns listed.

Now I just wait for the illegal rule to be thrown out!

 not going to happen. In fact it won't even be heard for over a year.

Got 1 of 3 back.

Submitted 2/8, approved 4/18. This was the 5.56 11.5 inch. Still waiting on the AR9 and the Draco to come back. Same as the others, marked "tax exempt" and "conditional to Final Rule"

When you guys say they "arrived", do you get email notices or do you have to go to the atf.gov site and look periodically?

When you consider the caliber of people working at the ATF, we are lucky any of these get approved in a timely manner, or at all. Average IQ of those folks is probably around 60.
I had one approved at 30 days. I have two more pending and at 70 days and counting.

I don't personally know anyone that is employed by the BATFE, but I would say they are VERY understaffed and the workload is extremely high.
I can't speak for their IQ levels, but I would guess they are doing the best with what they have to work with......................JMO

It will happen - just like the bump stock ban. But that took 5 years - and this will take at least as long.
Uh.........what?
The bump stock ban didn't disappear.
The 5th Circuit decision is under appeal, and their ruling only affected Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

In my experience, as someone who has actually met ATF employees and dealt with NFA Division on a weekly basis, your assumption is flat wrong.
I sure as heck despise ATF management, but the NFA Examiners are damn good at what they do considering the constraints and the volume they deal with.

Luck has nothing to do with anything. It's all about the volume of applications and the FBI background check process.

Yeah, sure.o_O

In this thread we find out who blames ATF for the faults of the FBI NICS.

Some if I think comes from little things like where ATF says "processed in order recieved". But then of the three I have in, the aproved one is the last of them in order, but haven't touched the first two yet. Then there is, if all three that were done on the same day, at the same time, consecutively, why would they do only one of them, but its been a week now and crickets on the other two. Can't be waiting on a background check, as that was completed on the first one right? Add to that some guys who filed way after others get thiers done in two weeks while there are us who are now waiting months for a return with no update what so ever. That is the stuff that doesn't make sense to us peasants.

I suspect they do it in order of number. If you took some time between submissions and the websites are busy, you could have a substantial difference of numbers. I did multiples in one night at one setting, took about an hour, and there's almost 90 between them, which tells me that if the numbers are assigned sequentially, I wasn't submitting alone that night.

We also can't assume that sequential numbers all go to the same agent either. So one group or agent may get one, and another group the next one. Which might explain how your last submission got to be the first approved, ID.

And, since all my numbers start with 2023, there have likely been over 510K submitted applications...again, if sequential.

I suspect that the 2023 number you see refers to the year of submission.

I've wondered that too. I have two Form 4's for the same customer, one stamp arrived first week of March, still waiting on her second.

Wrong.
There are dozens of examiners. There is no guarantee that all of your were assigned to the same examiner.

That extended wait is likely due to the FBI background check. I've explained why so many times I just dont feel like doing it again.
