bigdipper, following is OAL variance from another thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...progressive-press.833604/page-2#post-10779806

Many reloaders see around .005" OAL variance on their progressive presses depending on the color of press and quality of bullets used. Even from a "humble" Pro 1000 progressive press (that's loaded hundreds of thousandths of rounds), OAL of .003" with different headstamp brass will be considered good by many. With pre-resized brass, Pro 1000 produced .001" OAL variance which many match shooters will be happy with.

Presses simply go up and down. Quality of your finished rounds will be determined by consistency of finished rounds' dimensions. Often, quality of components used, mainly the bullet, has a lot to do with the consistency and performance of your reloads.

If you are "testing the waters" about reloading, particularly since you plan to reload rifle calibers, I would suggest starting out with an "O" type single stage press. Even if you end up getting a different press (say progressive press) after choosing to pursue reloading further, the single stage press can be used to resize/deprime brass or do load developments without having to do a caliber change on the progressive press.

BLAZER - 9mm RMR 115 gr FMJ:
  • Regular: 1.115" - 1.118" = .003" OAL variance
  • Pre-resized: 1.115" - 1.116' = .001' OAL variance
R-P - 9mm RMR 115 gr FMJ:
  • Regular; 1.115' - 1.118" = .003" OAL variance
  • Pre-resized: 1.115" - 1.116' = .001" OAL variance
WIN - 9mm RMR 115 gr FMJ:
  • Regular: 1.114" - 1.117" = .003" OAL variance
  • Pre-resized: 1.114" - 1.115" = .001" OAL variance
BLAZER - 9mm RMR 124 gr FP:
  • Regular: 1.070" - 1.072" = .002" OAL variance
  • Pre-resized: 1.069" - 1.070 = .001 OAL variance
