Broke my dry spell...

Hadn't bought ANY primers in 5 years, but today I was near a sportsman's warehouse 40 Miles from home and I found some on the shelf. Fiocchi spp in sleeves of 150 for $8.55. could buy two sleeves per day, so I'll be swinging by tomorrow since we're in town for the weekend. I'll drag the wife with so I can get more! Nice to not pay hazmat and shipping.

I've been taking advantage of this. I have a Sportsman's Warehouse on the way south and north and have accumulated quite a few of the Fiochi primers. I haven't actually used any yet though. I may try to substitute them in some of my standard loads that use CCI 500 primers (9mm and 357 Magnum), but don't have a plan to use them in their own unique load as of now.

I'll be using these for 38 spcl loads for plinking primarily, so I'm willing to branch out from my normal Winchester and CCI primers...

I found the Fiocchi SPP would not reliable ignite on my little Rossi in DA, but everything else they work beautifully. The 150 count sleeve was an interesting find.

Here they average out to just under $0.06 each. The 150 count sleeves are nice with SW’s 2 sleeve limit.

Hey, $57/K isn't a bad price these days and the Fiocchi primers are good primers too.

I always liked Fiocchi, I used to buy them in the 12k box.
I stopped at Bass Pro yesterday and checked out their primers, they had Remis 1 1/2, CCIs, and Winchesters in spp, all at $90.00/k. I told them no thanks. I won't pay that for them.
Counter man looked at me like I was nuts.

I ended up with 1500 primers over the holiday between me and my wife, and she got a few things she's been looking for as well. I'm pretty happy.

Been stopping and getting the limit on the Fiochi primers at the Sportmans Warehouses I pass for work and the 4th of July. I’ve got enough to make a good batch even after some load development.

Capital Cartridge just had 5K Servicios & Aventuras SP for $315 w/ no hazmat and flat rate $12.50 shipping. Picked up 10K. Not pre-pandemic level, but about the best I've seen recently.
