How do you carry your gear when in business casual? Your shirt is tucked in and you have no jacket to work with.

Kel-Tec P32 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster in the front right pants pocket is about the only thing that works for me in that situation. I dont care for off-the-body carry (like a planner) because it could get lost or stolen, and other forms of carry like ankle or Thunderwear just don't do it for me.

cheers

I can't carry at work (even if my employer allowed me, I still have to go into DC often enough to be a PITA). If I did, it would be pocket carry all the way.

I would either wear a blazer like El Tejon Loco said or I would carry my J-Frame on my ankle.

Oops, I meant a cover garment (i.e. jacket, blazer, sport coat, etc) is not an option. It gets warm here :)

IWB w/blue jeans a size bigger. 'beater' t-shirt and then a light sweater or polo shirt. When it's monkey suit time, its the S&W 637 in a front pocket.

Skunk,

Itty-bitty pistol in my pocket. Shot placement. Aw, heck. Maybe a fairly big pistol. Cargo pants are cool, in certain climes.

I wear a shirt that looks good untucked. I have some with sedate prints that look good with tan or navy slacks. They have straight hems and are meant to be worn untucked. Even on hot days, I'll usually wear a t-shirt under so the pistol is not against my skin.

I'm business casual every day. Belly band worn under the pants, around the waist. Gun in standard IWB position, shirt tucked in over it, belt cinched up, shirt bloused out a bit. No problem.

Skunk, if this is in regards yo your new S&W M37, I suggest an Uncle Mike's or a DeSantis "Nemesis" pocket holster. The airweights just disappear in those things, in the right front pocket of cotton or wool pants. Tuck in your shirt, wear a tie, no problem. Carry a Biachi speed strip or two in the offside pocket and you're good to go. Don't forget the knife, too!

Edit -- IMHO, ankle carry is a waste. Too slow to access when you REALLY need it.

S&W AirLite J-frame in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster. Strong side Dockers front pocket. Yes you can totally see the bulge and if you know what you're looking for you might guess it's a gun but most people don't spend a lot of time staring at other's "pocket" area.

Given that 2/3rds of my consulting clients are in D.C. and Maryland, and that I often meet them at their clients, inside restricted buildings, the answer is that I don’t.

But before I got into this gig, I wore one of those fancy belly bands with suspenders from Action Direct under my button down shirts. Made sure the shirts were a size to big for normal wear, and that they were of a thick material.

Walther PP in Miami rig from Galco, under dress shirt and jacket. I can't wear anything around my pants because I switch from dress pants to shorts or poly fleece at the end of the day when I'm heading back to the compound.

I use a CompTac CTAC holster and a Glock 26... carried about 4 oclock... just wear a little bit larger shirt and pull it out a little farther than usual - it works like a charm.

Where do you guys carry the knife and if applicable, the SureFire? The clips and stuff are kinda faux-pases (what's the plural of a faux-pas?)

Skunk, you need to lose weight anyway fatboy! :p How hot does it get in tha O.C.? I wear suits all the time in the summer without a hitch.

Skunk, if you wanna pocket carry, then it's easy. If you wanna carry a larger gun, check out the CTAC with the velcro clips. Essentially invisible.

Put the flashlight in your pocket if you can't stand the clips. Duh. ;) :p You generally know when you might need it (ie, the dark) and can grope it ahead of time.

There are a coupla knives out there with dressier pocket clips that may do. If clips are absolutely verboten, then try IWB appendix behind the belt or a neck knife (I think Mickey Yurco's Hideaway is cool).

Hi Skunk,
When it's hot here in Austin, which is 7 months out of the year, I like my Wild Bill's Concealment Covert Carry holster. It's an IWB that lets you tuck your shirt in. Not that tucking shirts in is a big issue in Austin, since nobody cares...but you did ask. :)

One thing about it--it rubs my skin, so sometimes I wear a camisole underneath my shirt. When I realized I needed one, I thought, "So THIS is why men wear undershirts, besides saving their dress shirts for another day!"

:p

For those that use the CTAC- how do you like it? Is it easy to get the holster on and off? That's what I was looking for to carry my 1911.

Skunk,

I'll often change clothes twice a day from casual to exercise and back. So I use a carry method that's independent of what I wear. Even works with only my underwear.

I wear a separate, dedicated belt for holster and whatever. - a 1 3/4" belt with a flat buckle from Brigade Quartermaster. It's not a thick stiff belt from a major holster maker but it is a heavy duty nylon strap and buckle.

Worn over my underwear and under my pants, shorts, slacks, suit, whatever, it disappears. Since the holster is on it and not on an external belt, a lot of concealment and retainment issues are eliminated. Weapon stays in position regardless of what my pants are doing.

At the moment, I've got a Glock 19 in a Fist #K1 IWB. Usually I've got a snubby instead (also a Fist #K1) and often a Seecamp in an Aker pocket holster in the right front pocket.

Although I can carry a knife on that belt, I normally carry a CRKT M-16SF in my waistband (not pocket) at 3:00. Fox pepper spray is in left front pocket with money clip. Choate executive ice scraper is in right rear.

Regardless, the key item is a separate belt under my clothes. Doesn't need special clips or doo-dads to be tuckable. A variety of holsters become concealable. Can even be used like a smartcarry if desired.
