How do you office going CCWers keep your gun concealed?

When I worked we had a no gun policy. I carried when I felt like it but I was in a secure location and really had no need to. I wore work clothes and could have easily carried. I did Police Car Maintenance, there was always a shot gun in the car so, I felt safe. If I worked in an office and had to ware Dress Clothes with a no gun policy I would have to alter my Carry Firearm and method of carry. I do not like Kel-Tecs or LCPs but, in that situation I would probably have one in my pocket. I am now retired. All my little part time jobs have no rules. I can Finlay carry 24/7 and do carry multiple firearms.

Just to add one point - I didn't sign or agree to any kind of policy. It was never mentioned. I specifically looked in our handbook, and it says "no weapons" and violations could lead to termination.

If they really want me out, pepper spray or a folding knife would likely suffice. If they like the work I'm doing, they would probably slap me on the wrist even for a gun.

If I drove myself I might lock it up in the car, but I ride the bus to work, and sometimes don't leave until late in the evening (and have to walk two blocks to get to the stop).

I'm sure I could get used to my pre-CCW OC spray and mini-mag light again, but to me I've reached a fair compromise. M&P340 in a Nemesis does not print at all standing or walking. Siting around in meetings I feel like it is a neon sign. So, I'm not too worried about being made walking in or out, but I lock it up for the work day.

Good thread!

Safe carrying and shooting to all,
FT

ETA: I live in a pure employment-at-will state, so they could fire me for any (or no) reason at all, as I do not belong to any protected class. It's not like I have protection of some sort of union that I'm risking by violating the company policy. And, thankfully, they do not POST no weapons, or else I would be committing a felony in Ohio! As it is I'm violating a work rule that's buried in the employee handbook, not breaking the law...

I don't have a regular job, so I don't have to worry about this problem. I have no dress code other than what is comfortable for me to wear.

That being said, I carry all the time, except when I go to a government building where I can legally carry my firearm. I wear oversized Hawaiian shirts with outlandish patterns that hide the print. On the odd occasion that it is too cold to wear baggy clothing, I either pocket carry in my jacket, or, less ideally, I use a leather belt pouch (don't know why they call them fanny packs when you wear them with the pouch in the front) with a built in holster. I don't like having to mess with a zipper if I need the weapon, but open carry is just not an option in Florida.

How do you get it locked up W/out being seen?
Luckily, I have an office with a door. My coat hangs behind the door, so I have to close it most of the way to hang up my coat, then I open the desk drawer, put it in the metal gun box and lock it (the box stays there 24/7 - I have other storage at home). The secretary right outside my door would be the most likely to notice (she doesn't support me, so she never comes in my office), but most days I arrive before her, and leave after her (unfortunately!).

In warm weather, my typical office attire is a polo shirt tucked into jeans or dress slacks. I NEVER wear untucked shirts in the office, and almost never elsewhere.

I carry everything from a 3" K frame to a full sized M1911 in Don Hume 715M clip-on IWBs. They're not designed to be tuckable, but they still tuck reasonably well. I just blouse my shirt over the butt of the gun. The 715M is also very reasonably priced.

As an alternative, I carry a 2" S&W Model 36 in a Disantis Nemesis pocket holster. I mostly do this when I know that I'm going to have to make a lot of trips to places where I can't carry. I just take holster and all and leave them in my glove box.

If carrying it on you causes too much paranoia, look up the 'anytimer' set up on KTOG or carry a briefcase or something.
Just don't forget and leave it somewhere you shouldn't.

As a side note to this thread my boss was talking to me about concealed carry in church tonight.

He mentioned that he wanted a small gun because it had to be something people wouldn't see.

While he was saying this I was right next to him wearing a sweater concealing a full sized CZ75B , extra magazine & a flashlight and he never had a clue

340pd in a Nemesis holster. It just looks like the typical crap I usually carry in my pocket. My 627 (5" N frame) is in the briefcase.

My place of employment is posted. I have 25 years in and will not risk termination. However, the employee handbook I was required to sign in unintelligible and no one in HR could explain it to me.

The gun sits in the car in the parking lot. I don't know if they could make an issue out of that. I don't think so as I hold a permit. But I will take it that far.

If you cant carry a p3at in a pocket holster without fear of printing, you might just as well not carry, unless you want to wear one of those diaper holsters and have to undress to get the gun out :)

I thought this post was about how to carry, not where do you work, personal opinions on legal rights of employees, what if you get caught, etc, etc, etc

I thought the thread was pretty interesting and stayed on topic better than most - sorry if we are wasting your time... ;)

Lot of good posts here.....

S&W Mod 36, right front pocket carry, speed-loader in left front pocket.

____ OR ______

Taurus PT111, in my brief case with my laptop.

If you are carrying a P3AT in your pocket, no one is noticing.

I gave up mine a few years ago because I was not convinced a .380 was "enough". Now I am cosidering getting another one (or LCP) because they are truly a carry all the time gun. I usually have a 342 in my front right pocket. Always ok in jeans but some light weight, loose fitting pants it seems (to me) to be a little more obvious. No one has ever said anything and no one has ever stared or anything like that that made me think I was 'made'. Still, I carried the KT always without a holster (never anything else in that pocket with the gun) and was never concerned with it being spotted. I think most of the pocket holsters make it bigger than it needs to be. The Nemesis made me feel like I was carrying an extra pair of socks in my pocket.

I think we are all a little self-conscious and that's probably a good thing.

when I worked for other folks I carried an NAA Guardian in a rear pocket holster or a high ride belt holster under an untucked shirt.

these days I work for myself and I usually carry a Colt Detective Special or a Kahr PM9 under an untucked short

IF someone is employed by a K-12 school they can't take the firearm to school anyway. Moot point.
Unless you live in Utah.

When I was working, I carried a small auto in an ankle holster. When seated, it's actually easier to get to.

Tuckable. I currently really like CompTac. Been able to hide full-size Govt. model while wearing polo shirt & jeans. Dress shirt and slacks are even easier.
