Just to add one point - I didn't sign or agree to any kind of policy. It was never mentioned. I specifically looked in our handbook, and it says "no weapons" and violations could lead to termination.
If they really want me out, pepper spray or a folding knife would likely suffice. If they like the work I'm doing, they would probably slap me on the wrist even for a gun.
If I drove myself I might lock it up in the car, but I ride the bus to work, and sometimes don't leave until late in the evening (and have to walk two blocks to get to the stop).
I'm sure I could get used to my pre-CCW OC spray and mini-mag light again, but to me I've reached a fair compromise. M&P340 in a Nemesis does not print at all standing or walking. Siting around in meetings I feel like it is a neon sign. So, I'm not too worried about being made walking in or out, but I lock it up for the work day.
Good thread!
Safe carrying and shooting to all,

ETA: I live in a pure employment-at-will state, so they could fire me for any (or no) reason at all, as I do not belong to any protected class. It's not like I have protection of some sort of union that I'm risking by violating the company policy. And, thankfully, they do not POST no weapons, or else I would be committing a felony in Ohio! As it is I'm violating a work rule that's buried in the employee handbook, not breaking the law...
