What kind of pants do you people wear?

I wear relaxed fit jeans. 505s I think. About 2 inches bigger than they should be (IWB). A mak fits just fine in my front pocket and is easy to get to.

Carhartt work pants . Nobody thinks twice about seeing someone wearing Carhartts with various objects cluttering the pockets and waistline in these parts of New England - I could walk around all day pocket carrying 3 pistols and spare mags for each with another 3 around the waist printing and not a soul would notice . Having a flashlight and folder clipped in the right thigh pockets just marks you as yet another nail banger . With the equally ubiquitous polarfleece vest as cover , I can carry 8 months out of the year without making any concessions to comfort or gun size .

Olive Drab 5.11s. the best pants I have ever worn and currently the only pants I have. Have 3 pairs. Also wear Columbia Cargo shorts. For job, when out in the field wear "real tree" or tiger stripe camo cargo pants.

I almost hate to tell people what I'm wearing, because the name of the pant is actually 5.11 Tactical Pant.

Just call them "Royal Robbins 5.11s" Thats what they used to be before the ninjas got ahold of them. They were made for rock climbers in the first place anyways (the '5.11' is a rock climbing refference *see "Yosemite Decimal System"). Don't be a mall ninja when you can be an "athlete". ;)

I just call 'em "cargo pants" since thats what they ALL used to be known as back when they were 'cool'.

Dress pants are always pleated and cuffed with a long rise and a dutchman installed to allow for carriage of Thuderwear, if necessary and are sized 2 inches larger than true size to accomodate IWB carriage of either 3: M-66 or Commander. Belt loops are altered on the right side behind the hip and at the crossdraw position to accomodate holsters. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Casual slacks/khakis/chinos also are modified in a similar fashion. A good tailor or men's store will not look askance of you bringing your gear in and wearing it for fittings of pants, slacks, sport coats and suits.

Jeans are relaxed fit and likewise sized up. Make sure that the watch/change pocket is cut wide enough to accomodate a speed strip of 38 special rounds. Cargo or painter pants pockets are checked to insure sufficent depth to carry speed strips or a 45ACP 7-rd magazine without peeking.

Most of my jeans and cargo pants come from either Old Navy or Anchor Blue. The cut on the anchor blue stuff fits me like a glove. I'm lucky in that I should wear a 33" waist, but actually pefer a 34 for more freedom of movement. The 34" waist helps me hide just about anything. SOB carry hides my full-size FN Forty-Nine as long as I don't have to tuck my shirt in.
My Makarov rides IWB at about 4 o'clock.

Old Navy jeans are OK for carry, but I prefer their cargo pants for that purpose. Big pockets should I ever want to hide a shootable weapon in there.

I won't buy Anchor Blue unless I catch em on sale. Old Navy has reasonable enough prices most of the time, but I watch for sales there too as they are priced equal to or better than Wal-Mart stuff.

Only problem I have with Old Navy is the lack of durability. I am REALLY hard on clothes and only the Anchor Blue stuff seems to last. I have one pair that is over 5 years old and is still holding together. Countless washings and dryings following work on cars, in garages, softball games, volleyball games, hiking. You name it, they take it.

If you find your pants pockets are too small for CCW, do what I do - lengthen the pockets! All you need to do is add about an inch or two to the bottom of the pocket. You don't even need matching material, as the trousers conceal the pockets (polka-dot extensions, anyone? :D ). I lengthen most of my trouser pockets for this purpose.

Fire Hose Work Pants from Duluth Trading have huge pockets that easily carry a S&W J-frame with pocket holster. I have even fit a Glock 20 without a holster (but with a Saf-T-Block) in the front pocket. You can find Duluth Trading on the web. Be forewarned, the pants are spendy!

Once you hit sixty - -

- - And are securely married, the "stylish" stuff doesn't mean quite as much as it used to. On the other hand, I like to maintain a certain neatness about my person. Even since retirement, I shave and shower practically every day - - Just don't feel right otherwise. Clothes don't mean quite as much.

I used to like Levi's 517 jeans, until the Strauss people went anti-gun. I still have two or three pair I wear occasionally. (Don't look now, but Dockers are a Levi product as well. :( ) My new jeans are Wranglers.

Mostly, I wear khaki or blue chinos from Wal Mart. The price is right and they last pretty well. The plain fronts have barely enough room for a J frame in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster, and the pleated ones are fully adequate for a Colt Agent. And my P3AT fits almost anywhere.

Best,
Johnny

When I really have to wear Dockers style pants I carry a PM9 in the front pocket. The rest of the time I wear Old Navy or Wrangler jeans and carry a 1911 IWB.

Buy a size or two looser. Tight clothes "print" making the gun visible.

Folds and pleats on trousers help break up the lines of pocket contents.

Prints on shirts help break up the line of the gun, if it does print. (Like when you are taking groceries out of the cart at checkout.

Tailoring can have big payoffs. Those cheap Wal-mart slacks have cheap pockets (so do some of the good ones.)

There is nothing quite like having your customized J-Frame make its way down your trouser leg because the seam split in the pocket. Grabbing your crotch and shuffling to the men's room will get you talked about. Your friends will never let you forget it. If it falls out of the pants leg on the floor, your local constabulatory may never let you forget it.

If you are going to pocket-carry, consider reinforcing or replacing the pocket with something you custom-fit to the gun and holster.

for pocket carry with jeans, its the size of the pocket opening that counts; if you insist on jeans, purchase jeans with larger pocket openings, such as you'll find on Lee carpenter jeans.....traditional five-pocket jeans like the ones Levi's makes don't cut it for anything above a kel-tec p3at, and i hate to tell you, they're kind of dated and out-of-style anyway (ask your woman if you don't believe me)

I don't own anything denim, so no jeans. The pockets are too hard to get into. I wear cargo pants all the time, but don't carry a gun in the cargo pockets because it would be too hard to get to if needed. Khakis usually have deeper pockets than jeans and are a little looser, so it's much easier to conceal a weapon in them.

Of course, I carry IWB :scrutiny:

Bloo jeans. Nothing but. I have a few different styles...such as some that have more pockets and hammer loops...but they're all jeans and they're all bloo.

I wear BDU's with a inside the wasteband holster by Eric. Very, very comfy. I hate putting a pistol in my purse,I would rather wear a holster.

Great conceal carry khakis

Ok i read the 3 pages in this thread & didn't see what I use:

Columbia sportswear
Check this out

put cursor over color selections and you'll see loop on right pocket. There are 2 right front pockets - the zippered one is the rear front pocket & holds my S&W 642 in an Uncle Mike's w/ very little print. The zipper is easy to open.

The link I provided is for the shorts, but this same feature is in the pants (which I can't find online).
There is even a right leg open pocket (w/velcro) perfect if you carry a knife or a place for a mag at the range.

I've bot these at Kohl's and at Bob's - a New England are chain. $25 shorts, $29 pants. This is what I wear casually after work most of the time

I like front pocket carry of 642 or back pocket carry of Seecamp. For work in summer, I prefer khaki 100% cotton, pleated and hopefuly cuffed. I spend a lot of time in dressing rooms with 2 different waist sizes trying to find pants for 642. I will have to consider extending pockets, since butt of pistol can sometimes be seen.

IWB is out of question - too many huggy and [politically correct] types throughout the day. Since discretion in concealment a must, I find myself with Seecamp the most.

Rustler jeans from Wal Mart have deep pockets. I have had no problem carrying a J frame revolver or a KT P-11 in a front pocket holster while wearing them. They sell for about $11.00.

Old Navy has a pair of cargo pants with a cell phone pocket over the right front pocket; that should help breakup the outline. The pockets aren't very deep though.
