I read the post about the guy going to the CMP North location in Ohio and how he was able to handpick his rifle :) . I have also heard that there is a CMP South location but do not know where it is located. If I have all the qualifications necessary to purchase a rifle from the CMP is it possible to go to the CMP South location to purchase a rifle? If possible what kind of documentation do I need to do this?

Also, is it possible to buy more than one rifle at a time:uhoh: . The reason I ask is because I would really like to get a Springfield 1903 and from what I have heard their stock is running out and I would hate to miss out on one :( . On the other hand I would also like a Service Grade Springfield M1 Garand..... so many decisions. So why not get both at the same time :what:

Thanks for your advice.

There is no "CMP South." The Anniston Army Depot is the shipping origin of the CMP rifles, and I understand that you can put in a weekend's work there and pick out a rifle for yourself to buy, but there is a waiting list for helpers.

Mac,

There is no "store" at the CMP South location. That's the warehouse where all the mail orders are processed.

If you give volunteer help at the CMP Anniston warehouse for a day or two they will let you pick out ONE, rpt. ONE rifle from the non-waiting list types to buy and take home with you. Sorry, no Winchesters or IHC's allowed. Those are held for the waiting lists.

At the CMP North Store you can buy as many rifles as you still have available on your yearly allotment.

best regards,
