CNN's DL Hughley shoots in Texas

I don't have a TV so I've never seen this guys show but I can only guess that he is a typical CNN employee.

Um...no, not quite. D L Hughley is a comedian/actor. For some reason CNN thought they could boost off-peak viewership by having him be the host. It didn't work.

I've shopped at Jim Pruett's and shot at American Shooting Centers. Both are excellent.

I especially like American Shooting Centers because they will kick you out if you are even a little unsafe.

I agree that our fellow Texans answered Hughley's questions well and for a CNN piece it was relatively fair.

As for the
idiot who voted for Obama
he too is a fellow 2A lover. And we are going to need him and all his liberal friends in Washington for the Second Amendment March. Because the 2A March is not about liberal or conservative, it is about the right.

So even though he and other liberals can't see the forest for the trees, at least some of them are supporters of the Second Amendment.

That one guy cracked me up with his comment about the difference between " a citizen and a civilian", lol wonder if he meant subject. Probably just real nervous being in front of the camera and not wanting to look bad.

Not bad,

+1 on Jim Pruett's store, I liked him when he was on the radio full time.

Obama's only statement on guns that I am aware of is that "I don't plan to take away your hunting guns."

Considering that he himself raised the "take away" issue, that is not very solid ground to think that he won't "take away" everything that is not legal for hunting and disarm everyone who does not have a hunting license.

The real problem with the President is not that his various plans (Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, the economy, trade, etc.) are good or bad, it is that THERE ARE NO PLANS. He is a man hopelessly out of his depth, and flailing away in all directions trying to deal with issues he can't begin to understand.

Jim

I still can't get over people claiming to be pro 2nd amendment and voting for Obama. Who is his VP? Who is his AG? I don't have much faith in him not being dumb enough to try a gun ban either.

Pretty good video! I enjoyed it.

Saying that you don't want to take away people's guns leaves a lot of room to move; banning the production of all guns for any reason, for example.

Good job Texans!

I thought he said the difference between a subject and a civilian. One thing that stood out to me was the guy that was zeroing his gun to gun to hog hunting. DL asked him what kind of guns he had and replied 2 AR15s. DL's next comment was what do you need an automatic to go hog hunting for?

I think the video was more instructive of how much most people w/ no experience w/ firearms enjoy shooting for the first time, and how their perception is so far from reality.

The look he had when first shooting that AR15 is the same look 5 or 6 of my friends had after I took them shooting for the first time. They all went from "guns are bad" "should be banned" to "WOW! That was Fun!" or "I'm going to buy one!"

I've also noticed how those gun owners politics changed as a result of their recent firearm purchase. People who always considered themselves independent and non partisan suddenly moved 3 or 4 notches over to the right.

I think the best way to preserve our 2nd amendment rights is to take our friends/family shooting and make it a positive experience, just as Hughley obviously had in that video. Many of those who enjoy it will go on to purchase guns themselves and become part of the "culture".

I thought the piece was pretty well done and quite fair. DL Hughley does seem to listen and learn in his interviews, something a lot of tv personalities don't bother trying. I also like the feeling he was expressing after shooting the AR15, pure joy. The gun owners interviewed did quite well and the piece was edited fairly.
I saw him interview Ron Paul and he was pretty good there as well though he took a few easy jabs at the republican party. I much prefer it when people beat the living daylights out of both the Democrat and republican parties.
I will probably watch DL Hughley a little more in the future as I enjoyed the 2 pieces I saw from him.

Like I said, forest for the trees. They only see voting in the liberal/Democrat/"anyone but Bush" as being good, not the fallout will come after.

But like the GunTalk guy has said many times, we need to not alienate pro 2A liberals and make sure they are included in the 2A March. Ultimately, the Second Amendment is not about politics even though politicians have made it that way. We, the people, need to take it back and say that it is not part of politics, it is part of our Constitution. One way is to make sure everyone knows that there are liberals who are into guns and want to march to protect the right.

Couldn't agree more. Once people experience shooting, they usually have a lot of fun and their opinions about gun owners often change.

DL Hughley is supposedly CNNs answer to John Stewart with a little more seriousness than the Daily Show.

This clip was fine. No bias- just a video of a guy who never shot before shooting. I have yet to find someone who never shoot before not like shooting after trying it.

Boba Fett,

I certainly understand where you're coming from and I agree that we need as many people on the pro-RKBA side as we can get. That being said... any body who voted for Obama thinking that he was not a risk is an idiot, pure and simple. There is no room for that kind of thinking in Texas. Lord knows there are enough people like that already... in Austin.

I've only seen D.L. Hughely's show a couple of times, but it seems pretty good. Not great but OK.

The clip was also pretty good. Everyone did a good job of answering questions and came off as pretty reasonable and logical. Too often the "interview people at the gun store" news stories are about finding the stupidest guy they can, so they can paint gun owners as dangerous and crazy.

The video: Not bad, not bad at all.

Obama "I won't take your guns": Absolute bull****. Just look at his record and the record of those he surrounded himself with.

Did texas get open carry yet?
Not yet. Our legislature only meets for a few months every other year. Therefore, if it doesn't pass this year then we'll have to wait until 2011.

I don't plan on OCing but, by golly, I shouldn't be denied the right!

LOL no kidding...and in Dallas too sadly. Like I said, they can't see the big picture, they can only see the "Must vote Obama" zombie mentality.

Unfortunately, both candidates in the last election were risks (maybe not to the 2A, but on the whole). Obama, however, was simply a huge risk, not just to 2A, but to the whole country....as has been proven by his first month in office.

Thank God I live in Texas were there is still some common sense. Now if we could just get the border closed...

Not as long as good-hair Perry is around. I don't think Kay will be any better either. She scares me. She's too quiet in Washington. She should be up in arms. Oh well, we're going off topic here. :)

Democrat, some of us aren't single issue voters either. I kind of follow the whole life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness philosophy when I enter the booth. Life is off topic here, gun rights fall into the liberty category so they come second for me. Your party's platform is a threat to both.
